10 slots left in this class - it is an excellent class and very hard to find. I'm taking this one and looking forward to it. We really need to do more about supporting mental health in EMS if we want to get ahead of the turnover rate. This is your chance to be part of the solution, instead of just another person complaining about the problem!!

I am very pleased to announce the first offering of our new EMS Company Level Officer Program. This is a hybrid education program that consists of 76 hours of training online and the following seated courses: Preceptor Workshop, Professional Ethics and Personal Leadership (PEPL), Psychological Trauma in EMS Patients (PTEP), Mental Health Resiliency Officer (MHRO), EMS Safety, All Hazardous Disaster Response (AHDR), and a Designated Infection Control Officer Course. All of the "seated" classes WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AHDR can be done either seated traditionally in the classroom or live online via the TEAMS platform. AHDR is only allowed to be taught in a traditional classroom setting. While I think the traditional seated classroom setting is the most effective way to teach all of these classes, I recognize that travel for multiple seated days is an obstacle to people being able to complete such a long program and live online for most of the courses is both allowable and effective. The program will begin on May 4, 2026 and end on August 3, 2026.
Three textbooks are absolutely needed for this educational program, EMS Shift Supervisor Text (National Association of EMS Administrators), Crew Resource Management (Paul LaSage), and PEPL (NAEMT). All of these are available new from www.jblearning.com.
I am very excited to be able to offer a comprehensive training program for EMS providers who are interested in stepping up to leadership roles in terms of promotion to FTO's, Assistant Supervisors, and Shift Supervisors. Great care was taken to ensure that this program is based on recognized national standards, not my personal opinions.
James Sprunt Community College will be the host college for this program. You can register online at www.jamessprunt.edu if you have problems finding the registration link on the college website, you can email Craig Garner the college's EMS Program Director at [email protected]
For a copy of the course schedule or answers to any questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Educational offerings: If you are interested in pursuing a leadership role at your service, I highly recommend Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership (PEPL). We have slots left in the remaining upcoming course. This will be the last PEPL class that I am doing for several months. In my opinion, this class should be a pre-requisite for assuming a leadership role. This course will be offered through James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville. PEPL is a 16-hour course. The course dates are March 23 and 24. We will start at 09:00 each day. The card cost is $15. YOU ABSOLUTELY WILL NEED THE TEXTBOOK FOR PEPL. It is available at www.jblearning.com. NAEMT registration links are listed below. For college registration, contact Craig Garner ([email protected]) or Cody Herring ([email protected]).

Educational offerings: If you are interested in pursuing a leadership role at your service, I highly recommend Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership (PEPL). In my opinion, it should be a pre-requisite for assuming a leadership role. We also have another Mental Health Resilience Officer (MHRO) course coming up. This is an excellent class that prepares you to do the most important thing you can do as a leader, take care of your people. All of these classes will be offered through James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville. The PEPL classes are stand alone with a 09:00 start time each day. The card cost is $15. Hope to see a big crowd. I'll be presenting on the first day and enjoying all the sessions in between running a vendor booth! Ignoring mental health issues in First Responders needs to be a thing of the past - this summit is a good first step towards changing that dynamic. A registration link is in the comments!
