NEW BLOG: The prevalence of teacher s*xual abuse is rampant. While there is no national database of school s*xual abuse cases, a watchdog group, the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification, acts as a clearinghouse. They note that, on average, about 6,000 educators each year have adverse actions taken against their certificate or license for serious misconduct that deems them unsafe to be in the classroom. Most never see a courtroom, so there is no actual record; therefore, they still have access to children.
