Today the Church celebrates one of her most glorious feasts β the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. πΉ
Mary, body and soul, has been taken up into the glory of heaven - she has been interceding for us ever since.
This is a feast about more than Mary: the Assumption is a living promise.
Here at St. Luke School, this is exactly what we're about: forming young people who know where they're going β and who walk each day with the Mother who got there first. π
Our Lady, assumed into heaven, pray for us!

Today the Church honors St. Maximilian Kolbe β a priest who gave his life so another man could live. π―οΈ
In the darkness of Auschwitz, Fr. Kolbe stepped forward and said:
"I am a Catholic priest. I wish to die for that man." That courage is a reflection of the courage of Jesus Christ, who we strive to encounter each day.
Here at St. Luke School, we're part of a tradition that believes every single life is worth dying for. That's what a Catholic education forms: not just students, but saints.
St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us! β

"Whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me." β Matthew 25:40 β
At Saint Luke School, education goes far beyond the textbook. Through Learning Without Limits, students are discovering their God-given talents through hands-on STEM π¬ and STEAM π¨experiences, Lego League π, Speech & Debate π¨ββοΈ, and so much more.
Catholic education doesn't just build scholars β it builds men and women of faith. When a student learns to solve a problem, think critically, speak boldly, or lead with confidence, they're not just preparing for a career. They're growing into the person God created them to be.
"Each one has a particular gift from God." β 1 Corinthians 7:7 β
Your gift on Erie Gives Day provides the technology, materials, and resources that make these transformative opportunities possible. Every dollar invested in a Saint Luke student is an investment in the future of Catholic education β and in the future of Erie.

Praying for our St. James Families, for Lisa Norton, and her families and friends.
"Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. And grant her peace."
Dear St. James Families,
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Lisa Norton, a beloved longtime educator and former principal of St. James School, following a courageous battle with cancer.
For more than three decades, Lisa dedicated herself to the students, families, and mission of St. James. She was a teacher, a principal, a colleague, a mentor, and a friendβand her impact reaches far beyond the walls of the classrooms and school she so faithfully served.
Lisa also holds a special place in the history of the Erie Catholic School System. She served as principal of St. James from 2016β2020 and helped lead the school during the earliest years of our system. Her commitment to Catholic education and, most importantly, to the children entrusted to her care leaves a lasting legacy within our Erie Catholic family.
For those who knew and loved Lisa, we know this loss is deeply felt. We ask our Erie Catholic community to join us in praying for her husband and family, her former colleagues and students, and the entire St. James community during this difficult time.
In our Catholic faith, we grieve with the hope of Christ and the promise of eternal life. May Lisa now rest in the loving arms of our Lord, and may the countless lives she touched throughout her many years of service carry her memory forward.
For those wishing to honor Lisaβs memory, donations may be made to St. James School or Friends of the Erie County Library.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. And grant her peace.
Gina M. Brennan
Principal
