Thank You to the Non-Ferrous Founders Society (NFFS) for coming to Erie this past week (Wed. 9/23) to officially present the 2026 NFFS Scholarship Award to Nathan Alfieri.

Our primary mission within M.M.G. is to help students find opportunities to get work experience in manufacturing and also to help students find manufacturing scholarship opportunities to help fund their education.

M.M.G. member, Nathan Alfieri, has been working for Erie Bronze & Aluminum in Erie, PA since his sophomore year at Penn State Behrend.

Nathan was awarded the 2026 NFFS Scholarship Award for his work and interest in the metalcasting industry. Congratulations Nathan!

NFFS also presented a check to Penn State Behrend which has been deposited in the NWPA Chapter of the American Foundry Society at Penn State Behrend Endowment Fund that will fund future scholarships for Penn State Behrend AFS Students interested in the metalcasting industry.

Thank You to the NWPA AFS Chapter for sponsoring the FALL 2026 Student Night tonight (9/15). The dinner was delicious and our students did a great job talking about their experience working in the Iron & Steel and Metalcasting industries. Thank You to all of our industry partners and friends that attended the event- It was a great turnout!

Don't miss your chance to complete the METAL LEVEL 1 Boot Camp (FREE) at Penn State Behrend August 17th - 19th. This will be the final training at Penn State Behrend until the end of November.

Penn State Behrend is offering the METAL (Metallurgical Engineering Trades, Apprenticeship, and Learning) program, a FREE, immersive training experience that introduces participants ages 18 and older to metallurgy, casting, and forging.

Participants gain introductory technical skills through hands-on lab activities, visit local foundries, explore careers in advanced manufacturing, and connect with industry professionals. Whether you're looking to strengthen your resume, or someone interested in learning more about metallurgy, METAL is a great opportunity to learn by doing.

Current Penn State Behrend students also have the opportunity to earn a college credit by completing the METAL bootcamp.
