The Living Arts School

The Living Arts School Located in Boulder County, The Living Arts School is Colorado’s first folk school. Our workshops are held at various sites around Boulder County.

A folk school in Boulder County which exists to help people connect to themselves, the earth and each other through the acquisition of traditional living skills, such as canning, fermenting, sewing, woodworking and more. A folk school, also known as a craft school, is a place for “folks” of all ages to pursue a unique and life-changing education–one that focuses on the renewal of traditional livin

g skills, crafts and music. The modern-day application of these traditional folk arts represents a return to a simpler, more creative way of life. When we take the time to make something with our hands, we find a delightful surprise: We are, through the process, more connected to ourselves, to our earth and to each other in the spirit of community. If you have a site to suggest, or you know of land (bare or built-on) that we may be able to develop into a more comprehensive folk school location, please contact us at [email protected] or 720-383-4406. Don't miss this special offering from one of our beloved teachers!

Hello dear parents,
My name is Marianah Jade. I'm a former Wee Folk Forest Kindergarten Teacher and Parent & Child Teacher at Living Arts School, Women's Wisdom Educator & Practitioner, and Mentor for Tween/ Teen Girls.
I believe with all of my heart that the twilight of childhood ~ the tween years ~ are truly a time of magic!
But growing up in our digitally-focused world can leave our daughters feeling disconnected from what’s real, confused about where they belong, and unsure of how to trust what they feel and know.
I've been honored and delighted to Mentor a group of girls (ages 10 and 11 now) over the last couple of years through our Girl's Group ~ Moon Circle.
Moon Circle is an Oasis for 10 & 11 year old girls to discover, develop, and delight in... sisterhood, the skills of intuition, and feminine empowerment.
Exploring through Earth-Centered Herbalism, sisterhood practices, revering the rhythms of nature, practical arts, singing, and more - this fun, supportive, creative, and celebratory group of blossoming girls of a similar age is above all else - a community, a second family, and a safe and sacred space.
Our intention is to gather with the same cohort for years to come, so that Moon Circle can be an anchor for the girls as they navigate the changes ahead.
We gather on Fridays throughout the school year, and I warmly invite your daughter to join us! We have only 2 spots left for this school year and we begin on August 28th.
Here's the invitation link, which includes all details and registration info:

Last camp of the summer for curious children ages 6-12--don't miss it! Located in East Boulder in the forest, Mon-Fri 8:30-3pm, optional aftercare until 4pm or 5pm.
Explorers and Mapmakers: Join us this week as we become explorers seeking a mystical land. With our trusty map making tools, we will set out to document our real (and fictional) surroundings, using ink, watercolor and our big imaginations. Help tell the story of this land, and step into the character you’d most like to be for the week. Are you a king disguised as a common traveler? Or perhaps a sea captain on his way home? Maybe an elfin princess or a dragon rider who has just come down out of the sky? We will act out the stories we imagine this week, and weave them into our fantastical maps as well.

Aug 3-7, 2026 Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm, Optional Aftercare from 3-4pm or 3-5pm Relationship Focused Ratio = 8 campers: 1 teacher Class Focus: Exploring & Mapmaking All camps located at the “Fox Den”, a short walk into the enchanted forest and in the shade at our East Boulder

Hooray for our newest location! Wee Folk Forest at Pisgah Roots is a "rain or shine" outdoor preschool/kindergarten outside of Asheville, NC, for children ages 2 1/2 to 6. We are inspired by the Waldkindergartens and Forest Schools of Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Finland, where children spend the early years of their education in entirely outdoor settings. There are enormous benefits for children who attend forest kindergartens, ranging from social-emotional and sensory-motor health, to a richly developed sense of place, and active imaginations. When observed, these children convey an empowerment uncommon for their age, and a contentment that will make anyone "run for the forest".
Flexible scheduling, mornings, afternoons, full days--choose the schedule that works best for your family. School year offerings include Monday through Friday options, School Days Off and Holiday Camps.
Come join us at our next Open House on the land: Sunday, August 2nd, 1:30-3pm, RSVP to [email protected] or call with questions at 720-383-4406
