Service and Sisterhood

111 years ago, Alpha Kappa Alpha, became the nation’s first sorority established by African American women, on the campus of Howard University located in Washington, D.C. Today, nearly 300,000 members worldwide, continue to be of Service to All Mankind.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated enriches minds, encourages life-long learning, provides aid for the poor, initiates social action to advance human and civil rights, workes collaboratively with other groups to maximize outreach on progressive endeavors and continuously produces leaders to continue its credo of service.

Members of the Mu Nu Omega chapter look forward to implementing the 2018-2022 program theme of Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service under the leadership of International President Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover. Chapters throughout the world have the opportunity to address community needs through the implementation of five target areas and our signature program, CAP (College Admissions Process). The five targets include HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts and Global Impact. The programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha still reflect the communal consciousness steeped in AKA tradition.
