A Sweet Day in Our Classroom!

Our little learners had so much fun making homemade applesauce together! From washing and preparing the apples to watching them transform into delicious applesauce, the children were engaged in a hands-on learning experience from start to finish.

Along the way, we practiced counting, measuring, observing, following directions, and using our senses, and of course, we enjoyed a yummy taste test!

Learning is always more fun when we can see it, do it, and taste it!

How Many Apples Tall Are We?

Our little learners had a fun time exploring measurement with apples! We worked together to discover just how many apples tall we are.

The children practiced counting, comparing, estimating, and measuring while having lots of fun along the way! We talked about who was taller, who was shorter, and how many apples it took to measure each friend.

It was a fun, hands-on way to build early math skills, vocabulary, and problem-solving-all while enjoying our apple themed learning.

A Fun Week of Learning, Exploring & Growing!
Our classroom is going APPLE-CRAZY!

This week, children will explore apples and learn about the American folk hero Johnny Appleseed through hands-on activities, stories, songs, science, art, and play.

• Explore the colors, shapes, sizes, and textures of apples
• Taste and compare different kinds of apples
• Learn about the parts of an apple
• Investigate what happens when an apple is cut open
🌳 Growing & Nature
• Learn how apples grow on trees
• Explore seeds, roots, trees, and plants
• Discover what plants need to grow
• Plant or observe apple seeds
👒 Johnny Appleseed
• Listen to stories about the legendary Johnny Appleseed
• Learn about his connection to planting apple trees
• Sing songs and participate in dramatic play
• Talk about kindness, nature, and caring for our environment
🔢 Early Learning Skills
• Count and sort apples
• Practice colors, shapes, and patterns
• Explore measurement and comparison

Tip Tuesday 💛

Family photos are more than just sweet memories. They’re also a simple way to build language, connection, and confidence with young children.

Try looking through family photos together and asking simple questions like:

• Who is this?
• What are they doing?
• Who lives in our home?
• Do we have any pets?
• What do we like to do together?

For toddlers, even simply naming familiar people like Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, brother, sister, or baby helps build vocabulary and strengthen recognition of the people who are important to them.

These little conversations also help children practice listening, taking turns, remembering familiar experiences, and developing a stronger sense of belonging. 🏡

One of the sweetest early milestones is watching little ones begin to recognize the people who are most important to them.

As babies and toddlers grow, they start to show excitement when they see familiar faces, look toward loved ones when they hear their names, and develop strong preferences for the people who make them feel safe and cared for.

These early relationships help build the foundation for attachment, communication, confidence, and social-emotional development.

This Week in Our Curriculum: My Home & Family 🏡💛

This week, our students are learning all about the people who love and care for them, the special things families do together, and the many different ways a family can look.

Through stories, conversations, hands-on activities, movement, sensory play, math, science, and creative art, our classrooms are building vocabulary, social-emotional skills, fine and gross motor development, and a stronger sense of belonging.

Toddler Spotlight

Our toddlers are exploring “Who’s in My Family?” through family photos, conversations about family helpers, washing baby dolls in the sensory bin, movement games, and more. They’ll also be introduced to the letter M and practice important social skills like patience and taking turns.

We love creating opportunities for children to see themselves, their families, and their experiences reflected in what they learn. 💛

All About Me!

Our friends had so much fun exploring what makes each of us unique and special.

As part of our All About Me theme the children worked together to trace their bodies and then used their creativity to decorate their life-sized self-portraits.

This hands-on activity gave our little learners the opportunity to explore body awareness, practice fine-motor skills, express their individuality, and celebrate the wonderful things that make each of us who we are.

We loved seeing their personalities shine through each colorful creation!

Our Parent Reading Club is Back!

There's something so special about seeing parents step into the classroom, open a book, and share the joy of reading with their child's class. Our Parent Reading Club gives families the opportunity to be a part of the classroom while inspiring a love of books and reading in our little learners.

We are so grateful to all of the parents who take the time to come in, read a favorite story, and make these moments so memorable for the children. Their excitement when a parent walks through the door says it all!

Happy Grandparents Day!

What a special day we had celebrating the amazing grandparents!

Our little learners were so excited to share smiles, hugs, laughter, and special memories with their grandparents/families. It was truely heartwarming to see the love and connection between generations.
