Gannon University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry's Dr. Ria Betush represented Gannon University on this year’s D.C. Alternative Break Service Trip, supporting students in a week focused on civic engagement and community service. Participants worked with organizations assisting individuals experiencing homelessness and delivering meals to critically ill residents while also learning about the legislative process and social justice issues in Washington, D.C.

Once again students from Chem 400: Communicating Chemistry, led an outreach event at Millcreek Township School District Chestnut Hill Elementary School. As part of the course, students design and organize this experience to strengthen their ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in clear, engaging ways for a general audience.
