Our goal is to provide your child with a home-like atmosphere full of love, comfort, and understanding. In today's world, our children can be so vulnerable to our environment. Our staff pledge to take care of your child, love them, teach them, and to provide them with safety and security. Our 1st location was opened at 4015 West 12th Street, Erie, PA in January 2000. Our owner, Amy Nordstrom, opened a second location at 1347 West 6th Street in September 2006. History of Little Wonders Child Care Center
Little Wonders first received licensing in March 2000. I, Amy Nordstrom had worked here at 12th street for a previous owner when she decided to sell her center. At the time I had a 3 year old son and 2 month old daughter so I was quite hesitant. After quite a bit of thought, I grasped the idea with an open mind and took on this new and exciting challenge. It has been several years now and much has changed since 2000. Our original capacity was 42. In 2004, we had 1,000 square feet of building added on. This became our new infant and Toddler 2 rooms. It increased our capacity to 65. In 2006, we opened our second site in Frontier Place. This site had a capacity of 59. In 2009, we added on a new, larger preschool room. It increased our capacity to 88 for the entire building. As you can see, our already large family has been growing larger. Unfortunately, after some tough decision making, I closed my 12th Street location in 2013. Although I have run into many challenges throughout the years, I love what I do and wouldn’t change a thing. There is nothing better than watching a child grow from infancy to Kindergarten knowing you were an important part of their life. Each child has become a part of my family and we welcome everyone with open arms. About the Owner
Born and raised in North Warren, Pennsylvania, I moved to Erie from Bradford, Pennsylvania in 1997. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in 1996. While living in Warren, I worked at a day care center off and on for 3 years while attending college. In my spare time, I volunteered for the North Warren Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and First Responder. I still respond to calls when I can when home visiting. I joined the fire department following in my father’s footsteps, when I was 16 years old. In 2001 I received my Emergency Medical Technician certification. Unfortunately, I have not been able to use my certification in Erie due to lack of available time. I currently live in Erie with my children Kyle, Rachel, Erika and Madelyn. Owning my own business has always been a dream and I can definitely say I am living my dream. It is an every day challenge, but one I am open to. Little Wonders Child Care Center employs people who have had no less than 2 years experience with children. We also have employees who are college educated. Their degrees are in education and other child related areas of learning. Each teacher is required to have or submit for Child Abuse, Criminal and FBI clearances when hired. They received a minimum of 6 hours of annual training in continuing education in child related subjects. They also receive First Aid and CPR training within their first year of hire. We always have a minimum of one staff trained in First Aid and CPR in the building at all times. We have specific teachers work with each age group in order to maintain consistency with your child and their learning. Our hours of operation at West 6th Street are: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM- 10:00 PM
Tuition Rates are as follows:
Full-Time Infant Rate: $183.00/week
Full-Day Infant Rate (>5 hrs): $51/day
Part-Day Infant Rate (5 hrs): $48/day
Part-Day Toddler 1 Rate (5 hrs): $45/day
Part-Day Toddler 2 Rate (5 hrs): $43/day
