🇺🇸 📜 September 17, 1787 — The Signing of the United States Constitution✍️

In Philadelphia's Independence Hall, 39 delegates signed the framework of the United States government.

The Constitutional Convention had opened May 25. Twelve states sent delegates; Rhode Island sent none. Behind closed doors, they spent nearly four months on representation, executive power, and how authority would be divided between the states and the nation.

The result was seven articles. Its opening words — "We the People" — introduced three branches with checks upon one another, and a process for amending the document itself.

Signing did not make it law. Three delegates present that day refused: George Mason, Edmund Randolph, and Elbridge Gerry. Ratification required nine state conventions. New Hampshire became the ninth on June 21, 1788, and the new government began operating in 1789.

Amended 27 times since, it remains the world's longest-surviving written national constitution.

Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11, 2001—the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the first responders, military members, and others who answered the call in the days, months, and years that followed.

To honor their bravery and sacrifice, the four Scottish Rite jurisdictions — Scottish Rite, NMJ, Scottish Rite Freemasonry, The United Supreme Council 33º AASR Southern Jurisdiction-PHA. The United Supreme Council - AASR - PHA - Northern Jurisdiction, USA, — made a $169,224 donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

All of us, as Scottish Rite Brothers, made it possible.

This gift directly supports America's fallen first responders, Gold Star families, and catastrophically injured military veterans.

Last night, September 9, 2,977 drones rose over New York Harbor and formed the Twin Towers at full architectural scale.

The lights first gathered into a helix, swirling upward before assembling into the shape of the towers.

There were exactly 2,977 lights, one for every person killed in the September 11 attacks.

The installation, called “2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor,” was created for the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and shaped with input from victims’ families, survivors and first responders. Among those involved was retired FDNY firefighter Tim Brown, who lost close friends on 9/11. Three of the lights honored firefighters Chris Blackwell, Terry Hatton and Michael Lynch.

The towers eventually broke apart back into individual lights.
