We are happy to announce the reboot of the Abstinence By Choice (ABC) Conference. Our theme this year is “I Have PURPOSE!” We have not held our conference in several years and despite efforts throughout our community, state; even our nation, the trend towards unacceptable behaviors continues to plague us. The conference this year will highlight the need to effect positive change in the attitudes of our youth toward illicit drugs, (including alcohol and to***co), mental health/su***de, sexual activity, as well as physical and gun violence.

Our children must develop the necessary skills to move successfully into adult life. Our target audience is youth ages 5-18, young adults ages 18-24, as well as parents, youth workers, educators, and administrators. This conference seeks to help young people to use their faith in life’s decision-making process, which promotes abstinence from violence and provides our youth with the tools necessary to make healthier choices in all areas of their life. There will be drawings and giveaways throughout the day. All of the activities are free and open to the public.

There will be a strong emphasis on embracing individual purpose and community purpose in order to reduce local violence. At this writing, the violence in our community is unprecedented and continues to headline our daily news. The climate and attitude that has developed within our community as it pertains to personal regard for one another and the sanctity of life has deteriorated to unfathomable lows.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, we will once again assemble at East Middle School for programs and activities for students, parents, and professionals. Our keynote speaker is Brandon Wiley, executive director and co-founder of Opened Eyes https://www.opened-eyes.com/. Our entertainment headliners are Erie’s own music artist and rappers CEE Brown https://www.ceebrown.com/ and Sharpshooter https://www.facebook.com/Sharpshooter814.
