Over the past three days, Cathedral Prep AFJROTC welcomed our incoming freshmen to Zero Week—a fun, cadet-led immersion experience designed to build friendships, confidence, and teamwork before the school year begins.
From sports and team-building challenges to leadership activities, swimming, and learning AFJROTC traditions, our newest cadets got a head start on becoming part of the Prep family.
A special thank you to our upperclassmen who planned and led the event. Their leadership helped make Zero Week a tremendous success and set the tone for an outstanding year ahead.

Today we’re sharing an important leadership update. After four years of dedicated leadership, President Kevin Smith and the Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System Board of Directors have made a mutual decision for Kevin to transition from his role at the end of the 2025-2026 academic school year. We are grateful for all he has done to strengthen our school community and wish him the very best. We’re also pleased to welcome Jason Ladouceur as interim president, who will provide steady leadership moving forward.
Our dedication to our students and their families, and our commitment to continuing the strong traditions of Prep and Villa for many years to come remain unwavering. For more information, please visit https://www.cathedralprep.com/page/leadership.

This year marked a truly historic moment for our school as we presented cords for the very first time at graduation. These cords represent far more than a finishing touch to a cap and gown, they symbolize years of dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to the demanding pathway of our MedPath program.
MedPath students have taken on rigorous science coursework, completed structured requirements beyond the traditional curriculum, and actively engaged in shadowing, enrichment, and professional exploration experiences in the medical and health sciences field. Their work ethic, resilience, and passion for healthcare set them apart throughout their high school journey.
It was incredibly meaningful to recognize these graduates with cords that honor not only what they have accomplished academically, but also the growth, maturity, and leadership they have shown along the way. Congratulations to our inaugural MedPath cord recipients, you have set the standard for every class that follows. ⚕️

For 130 years, Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy developed men and women of vision in spirit, mind, and body as two entities. Students continue to grow and flourish under this mission under one roof, and are provided with an outstanding educational experience and a solid foundation for their future. On Sunday, May 31, 133 young men and women processed out of the back of the Warner Theatre as graduates of Cathedral Prep. The ladies wore the beloved traditional white dress and gloves, each carrying a bouquet of red roses. The boys wore the traditional white dinner jacket. The graduates had the honor of receiving their diplomas from The Most Rev. Bishop Lawrence T. Persico, J.C.L., President Kevin Smith, and Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs Jason Ladouceur.
Graduates and their families and friends heard speeches from classmates Isabella Speros ’26 and Matthew Oblich ’26, who fondly referenced the memories from each year of their high school careers. They recounted their time as being the first coed Cathedral Prep graduating class to spend all four years together, and rose above any fear or challenges that may have come their way. They have strengthened the foundation of faith that has been laid for them.
Kayley McCall ’26 & Michael Thompson ’26 served as the masters of ceremonies. Alonna Hudson ’26, Lauren Proper ’26, Charlotte Przybylinski ’26, Natahly Rosales ’26, and Isabella Speros ’26 sang “America the Beautiful.” Alonna Hudson ’26 led the ceremony in the opening prayer and scripture, while Jack Raimy ’26 closed the ceremony with prayer.
The Cathedral Prep Class of 2026 earned over $36.7 million in scholarships, which makes up an average of $276,146 per student!
