It's a hard pill to swallow.
I've seen it all too often. The older generations (GenX & Boomers) can't seem to understand how the younger generations (Millennial & GenZ) aren't going above and beyond like they did. Their values are different and the only way to move forward is through clear communication of expectations with a healthy dose of empathy.
For those of you that work in the multigenerational workplace, do you agree?

There may be further action that’s needed when it comes to establishing a good communication flow between a leader and their direct reports but it’s an excellent place to start.

Monkeys are the connectors of the world. They are extremely supportive. A good monkey is skilled at reading the room , helping them to anticipate needs and make friends wherever they go. Bad monkeys take it too far. They become overly comfortable, and can come across as desperate to remain on your good side.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard, why don't they try to find the answer first? I'd be one rich woman.
I can understand how this leads to frustration and lack of faith in the employees. Where is the initiative? I can also understand that the employees feel the need for approval if they've learned that making mistakes leads to mistreatment. Where do we go from here?
Here is the solution:
A) Hire me
B) In the meantime, communicate your expectations to your employees by saying something like "I'm happy to help you work through situations. I need you to look for solutions before coming to me, then I can guide you through problem solving."
Remember Deliberate Click Styles need both evidence and time to make decisions!
