Mrs. Srnka’s new students had their first experience as a Panther at Kindergarten Camp!
They had a fun filled morning with play dough, Pete the Cat, walking the halls, coloring and singing songs about God.
We are so excited to see the rest of our students on August 26th!

The countdown is officially on — school starts in just TWO WEEKS!
We can hardly believe how quickly summer has flown by! In just two weeks, our halls will once again be filled with laughter, learning, and the excitement of a brand-new school year.
We are so excited to welcome back our returning families and students, as well as extend a warm welcome to all of the new families joining our school community! Whether you’re returning for another year or beginning your very first year with us, we can’t wait to see you.
As we get our classrooms ready and prepare for the year ahead, we are looking forward to all the opportunities this new school year will bring — new friendships, new experiences, learning, growing, and making wonderful memories together.

Dear St. James Families,
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Lisa Norton, a beloved longtime educator and former principal of St. James School, following a courageous battle with cancer.
For more than three decades, Lisa dedicated herself to the students, families, and mission of St. James. She was a teacher, a principal, a colleague, a mentor, and a friend—and her impact reaches far beyond the walls of the classrooms and school she so faithfully served.
Lisa also holds a special place in the history of the Erie Catholic School System. She served as principal of St. James from 2016–2020 and helped lead the school during the earliest years of our system. Her commitment to Catholic education and, most importantly, to the children entrusted to her care leaves a lasting legacy within our Erie Catholic family.
For those who knew and loved Lisa, we know this loss is deeply felt. We ask our Erie Catholic community to join us in praying for her husband and family, her former colleagues and students, and the entire St. James community during this difficult time.
In our Catholic faith, we grieve with the hope of Christ and the promise of eternal life. May Lisa now rest in the loving arms of our Lord, and may the countless lives she touched throughout her many years of service carry her memory forward.
For those wishing to honor Lisa’s memory, donations may be made to St. James School or Friends of the Erie County Library.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. And grant her peace.
Gina M. Brennan
Principal

Our littlest St. James students had a great end to the school year. They spent some time with their 5th grade buddies and joined with families to celebrate their year. It was a great ending to a wonderful year! Thank you teachers and parents💖👏🙏

Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade recently had a visit from WQLN’s STREAM Machine. Ms. Kathy from PBS Kids, explained the meaning of the acronym as Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math.
The theme for the day was measurement. Students watched some video clips from PBS Kids and then talked about things we measure and tools used. They estimated then measured how many cats tall pictures of several PBS Characters were. Then they compared the weights of several objects using a balance scale. Last, the children listened to a book about Curious George. Each child received a bag of fun, educational items including 2 books, a slap bracelet ruler and a timer.
We are thankful to WQLN for providing this experience.
