Solstice Dance Academy is honored to introduce our newest, incredibly talented faculty member, Kennedy Cole ._.cole . Read more about Kennedy below:
Kennedy Cole is a teaching artist, freelance performer, and choreographer based in Philadelphia, PA. They hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance, and a Certificate in Professional Social Media from The University of Akron. While at UA, they had the privilege of working with artists and companies such as Bebe Miller, David Parsons, Cara Hagan, David Shimotakahara, Monica Bill Barnes, and the Gibney Company.
As an educator, Kennedy has over fifteen years of professional ballet and pointe work training. Working from a predominantly Vaganova background, they value precise technique, safe training practices, and individualized support. Kennedy is passionate about creating a welcoming and encouraging classroom dynamic that empowers dancers to grow both holistically, and as young movement artists.
As a choreographer, Kennedy’s premiere college work, I See Her Face, was selected by dance faculty to be performed at the East-Central Conference of the American College Dance Association in March 2022. This piece, and associated research was then published by the Document Academy, an interdisciplinary, global research collective, in the fall of 2022. They have since produced half a dozen choreographic works for stage and screen, and hope to continue growing their choreographic practice in the Philadelphia area.
This is Kennedy’s first season with Solstice Dance Academy, and they are looking forward to working with this amazing community of young artists and educators.
