Let us stop making excuses as to why other things are more important to us than God. May the Eucharist we share help us to be faithful in responding to God's invitation and generous in inviting others to know the Lord!

Twenty-three years ago today, the Church celebrated the canonization of two men whose lives were dedicated to the mission of sharing the Gospel across cultures.

Father Arnold Janssen, founder of the Society of the Divine Word, and Father Joseph Freinademetz, SVD, the first Divine Word Missionary to China, were canonized together on Oct. 5, 2003.

Today, we remember these two saints and the missionary legacy they continue to inspire.

St. Arnold Janssen and St. Joseph Freinademetz, pray for us!

We are all tenants in the vineyard of the Lord, our lives as well as our gifts and talents entrusted to us so as to do and be good for others and extend the reach of God's peace to all those we meet!

We are challenged by today's readings to be people who say what we mean and mean what we say. May the Jesus we receive in the Eucharist again today be the strength we need to become holy and to be people of our word!

"God's ways are not our ways!" None of us earns or deserves God's blessing. We can only open ourselves to receive it as a gift while asking God for the grace to be more generous in sharing our blessings with others!

We don't count how many times we forgive others because deep down, we know there's no limit to the number of times we need to ask for forgiveness. Let us live for Jesus and live like Jesus by asking for the grace to forgive and to seek forgiveness!

In order to overcome the conflicts among us, we need to learn to love and to listen. May the Jesus we receive again today open our hearts and our ears so that we can fulfill the command to love others even as we love ourselves!

What if we think of the cross not just as an object to be lifted up but as our effort to put on the mind and heart of Christ and to live out the two greatest commandments which intersect on the cross?

Calling All Divine Word Alumni Artists!

The Weyland Art Gallery at Divine Word College Seminary - Epworth, Iowa is excited to celebrate the creativity and talent of our alumni with a special Alumni Art Exhibition, March 22 through May 21.

Alumni working in all artistic media are invited to submit their work for consideration. The exhibition will be curated by Erin LaBelle, Artist in Residence at Divine Word College.

Submit up to 10 images of your work by November 26 for consideration. Artists need to deliver their artwork to the Divine Word College campus by February 14.
Whether your creative work has been a lifelong vocation, a profession, or simply something that brings you joy, we would love the opportunity to see what you have created and share the artistic gifts of Divine Word alumni with the wider community.

Who we say that Jesus is reveals who we are as God's children. May the Jesus we receive again today in the Eucharist change us so that our words and actions will reveal him to others!
