The Mainspring of Ephrata hosts an annual "Back to the Books" First Saturday event where downtown Main Street becomes an interactive story walk. Families stroll from shop to shop to read book pages displayed in windows, culminating in a free book for kids, in which EAEF helped sponsor!

Connie Kirby, EAEF board member, read Fitz & Cleo, a book illustrated and written by local authors Jonathan Stutzman and Heather Fox. Not only did Connie read this book enthusiastically, but also created little Fitz and Cleo ghosts to give to the children AND printed out handouts for the kids to color or draw on.

We are so grateful to Connie and to Mainspring for creating a magical event for local families to enjoy!

Today's Industry Tour with the Northern Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce took us to SAHD Metal, and it was easily one of my favorite tours!

Yes, seeing Aileen Romich and Dan Sahd was a highlight, but what truly stands out is the incredible culture they've built. The investment they make in their younger employees, the valuable skills they help develop, and the genuine care they show every person who walks through their doors is inspiring. One thing they love to do is give tours to school districts as well!

From learning about the metals market and which materials are currently in highest demand to seeing the wide range of businesses they partner with, every part of the tour was fascinating. SAHD Metal continues to lead the way in the industry, and it was a privilege to see their passion and innovation firsthand.

Each year, the Ephrata Area Education Foundation partners with the Ephrata High School Business class, giving students the opportunity to develop valuable marketing and sales skills by promoting and selling tickets for the annual Ephrata Area Education Foundation Night at the Reading Fightin Phils game.

This year's event drew a packed crowd on a beautiful evening, highlighted by a lights-out performance from MLB's top pitching prospect and Phillies' top prospect, Gage Wood, followed by a spectacular fireworks show.

We’re excited to share that STEAM kits have been purchased as rewards for students at Highland Elementary School! These hands-on kits will give students fun, engaging opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math while celebrating their hard work and achievements. The school is using their book vending machine (purchased several years ago through Foundation money) to dispense cards that are then traded in for the STEAM kits. A very creative vending machine model which displays the STEAM kit options is on display in the cafeteria as an incentive.

We love recognizing student success in meaningful ways, and these rewards are more than just prizes—they’re tools that encourage curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. We are excited to see our students learn, build, and discover through these exciting STEAM experiences.

Thank you to everyone who helps support opportunities like these for our school community. Investments in our students today help inspire the thinkers, creators, and innovators of tomorrow!
