Meet our new Professor of Music Education, Heather Cooper!
Heather is a music educator and ethnomusicology scholar completing her Ph.D. in Music Education at the University of Arizona (2026). With experience teaching K–12 and higher education, she specializes in inclusive, culturally responsive music education and community music practices, with a focus on Tongan music and diaspora communities. Her research has been featured at national conferences, and she is a recipient of the Joann W. Kaeppler Award for Outstanding Student Paper.
