Some projects are just jobs. Others stay with you.

The newly renovated grandstands at the Ellensburg Rodeo are a project Nor Pac Seating will remember for a long time. This was a major undertaking with a lot of moving parts, and the finished result reflects the amount of planning, coordination, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that went into every step.

The new seating brings a modern level of comfort and style to one of Washington’s most time honored Labor Day traditions. Just as important, the design pays close attention to the details that make a venue work well, including crowd flow, seat access, and the overall spectator experience.

We are incredibly proud to have played a part in bringing this project to life, and we know it would not have happened without the dedication of so many people. Thank you to the installation crews, architects, rodeo staff, and all of the partners who helped turn the vision into reality.

A good before and after does more than show a cosmetic improvement. Sometimes it shows the difference between damaged seating and a facility that is safe and ready for another season.

Our service and repair team recently traveled to Anchorage, Alaska, to work on multiple grandstands for Anchorage School District. Heavy snow loads had taken their toll over time, causing damage to handrails, guardrails, foot planks, and seat planks. There was also a fair amount of loose and missing hardware that needed to be addressed along the way.

This is an important part of what we do at Nor Pac Seating. We don't just sell and install new seating systems. We also inspect, repair, and restore existing bleachers and grandstands so facilities can continue using them safely and confidently.

Another Alaska project is complete, this time at Wendler Middle School in Anchorage.

We installed a wall attached bank of MAXAM telescopic bleachers from Hussey Seating Company, standing 15 rows high and giving the gym plenty of seating capacity while still allowing the system to retract when the floor needs to be opened up for other activities.

To finish it off, Wendler added Hussey’s Xtreme Logo Package, featuring the school’s Ram logo across the bleachers. It is a great way to turn functional seating into something that feels completely connected to the school and adds another layer of pride to the gymnasium.

We always enjoy the opportunity to work in Alaska, and projects like this make the trip even better. Thank you to Wendler Middle School for trusting Nor Pac Seating with your new bleachers. We hope the Rams enjoy them for many years to come.

There are fno better places to spend part of your summer than Alaska, especially when we get to leave behind a great looking project when the work is done!

We recently completed a new installation at Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School, home of the Thunderbirds and one of Alaska’s most diverse school communities. For their new gymnasium, we installed two banks of wall attached MAXAM telescopic bleachers from Hussey Seating Company, with each system standing 14 rows high. One bank also features the Xtreme Logo Package, putting their T Bird logo front and center and adding some serious school pride to the finished space.

Projects like this are exactly why we love what we do. Every facility and community is different, and getting to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska to help bring these spaces together never gets old.

What exactly is an ICC 300 inspection, and why does your facility need one?

ICC 300 gets its name from the International Code Council, the organization that developed the standard for bleachers, folding and telescopic seating, and grandstands. The standard covers the safety, structural condition, operation, accessibility, and means of egress associated with spectator seating systems. It applies to both new and existing seating installations, including indoor and outdoor systems.

For existing tiered seating, the standard calls for inspection and evaluation at least once each year by a qualified person. Folding and telescopic systems also need to be checked during operation to make sure they open, close, and function as intended. Those inspections help identify wear, damaged components, loose hardware, operational issues, and other problems before they become bigger safety concerns.

And somehow, the end of the year always arrives faster than expected.
