HUGE SHOUT OUT to two amazing young men! These guys, Dylan and Valentin, have achieved what I had initially thought to be a fun, yet nearly unachievable goal in our high school environment. They have succeeded in motor swapping a 2008 F350 6.4L Powerstroke that was in sorry shape at the beginning. Seriously, after they met the requirements for the first turn of the key, the rig roared to life on the first try! Needless to say smiles and high-fives were plentiful!
I know this is a common job in Ford dealerships around the country, but these guys are not professional mechanics (yet) and due to our schedule have to do it all in only 50 minutes a day. They have been so dedicated, essentially running to the shop before attendance to make progress.
I am so proud of them and the achievement they have realized! The credit is all theirs and I hope they will build on this experience in the future. Fortunately for me they get to hang out for one more year but then on, those that give them a chance will also see how their drive can produce results!
Nice job Men! You have weathered the worst and came out triumphant!

It’s been a few busy weeks in the garage!
Our 1st year students (~70 students in teams of two) all started their small engines they’ve rebuilt! Our 6.4 power stroke team, Dylan and Valentin have pulled the donor motor and are deep into the project truck, as well as the jeep project kids have been pulling the valuables from some donor wrecked XJ’s that an awesome community member donated for future projects! …along with so much more that I didn’t snag picks of!
Thanks for all the support from our community partners and friends of the program! You help make this program valuable for our future professionals.
Now on to second semester and some exciting events being planned!

Shout out to one of the more dedicated Auto Students Tatum Finn! She wanted to work on the XJ so we set her up with a slip-yoke eliminator kit. She was impressively self directed on the project even finishing it up on her 16th birthday 🎉! Good Job Tatum and Happy Birthday!

Three awesome EHS Auto Club students competed today in the Skills USA Regional Power Equipment competition!
This is a nation wide competition that after regional and state level events, culminates in a national competition held in Atlanta Georgia involving thousands of students across 130+ skill sets.
The power equipment section uses small engines to enable student competitors to demonstrate foundational knowledge in part identification, tool ID and use, mechanical knowledge, use of service information materials, along with hands on troubleshooting procedures and techniques.
Today’s contest had 17 students from 4 local High Schools and lasted ~4.5 hrs. The kids all did so dang good we even had to roll out a multi-tier tie breaker test for final scoring!
I am so proud of Andrew, Kayann, and Logan for taking a huge step outside of the comfort zone and taking part in this event. They represented the EHS Auto Club, Auto program, and most importantly themselves so incredibly well. We even got to celebrate with some hard earned McD’s and ice cream!
Huge pat on the back you guys!
Special thanks to all that support the EHS Auto Club providing the funds to participate in these events and to Mr. Fiorito from Tahoma High School and Mr. Edwards from Auburn High School along with so many volunteers and parents for always supporting our kids and these amazing opportunities! Thank you all so much!
Best regards,
Mr. H
