🧺During Family Week, our children are practicing helping at home by sorting the “family laundry”! This playful activity encouraged them to notice similarities and differences, match items, and organize clothing into groups.

Sorting builds early math skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Handling the clothing also gives children practice using their fine motor skills, while talking about their choices builds vocabulary.

Everyday family routines offer wonderful opportunities to learn—and help children feel proud of being a helper! 💙

This week’s inquiry question is "What Is a Family?”

Today, our preschool children explored this question by creating their family members out of playdough! As they rolled, squeezed, and shaped their creations, they practiced fine motor skills and used their creativity to represent the special people in their lives.

This hands-on activity opened up conversations about who is in our families and how we care for one another. Every family is unique, and we love giving children opportunities to share and celebrate theirs!

Children across our school continued exploring their likes and dislikes this week through art and conversation! 🎨💬

Our toddlers practiced making decisions as they chose which materials to paint with and selected their own colors. 🖌️🌈 In Pre-K, children used a variety of materials to create plates filled with their favorite foods. 🍎🍕🥦

These activities gave children a chance to express their preferences and share what makes them unique! 💛

We were excited to welcome Soccer Shots back to our school this year! Our children have been having so much fun kicking, running, and learning new soccer skills together. Soccer helps children strengthen coordination, balance, gross-motor skills, teamwork, confidence, and listening skills—all while staying active and having fun! ⚽

The thing about a Goddard preschooler is they’re going to be curious. Keep the questions coming 👏

Personally, we’d hire them as videographers 📹

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
