— 25 Years of Lion Pride!

For this week’s Friday Flashback, we’re going back 25 years to one of the greatest seasons in Ennis Lions football history!

Tonight at our home opener, we are proud to recognize the 2001 Ennis Lions State Championship football team on the 25th anniversary of their unforgettable season.

The Lions finished a perfect 16-0, capturing the Class 4A Division II State Championship with a 21-0 victory over Bay City in the title game.

Tonight, we welcome these champions back home and celebrate a team that forever left its mark on Ennis Lion history.

We’re going WAY back for this week’s Friday Flashback — all the way to 1915!

Pictured is The Bashaba, believed to be the very first yearbook published by Ennis High School. In fact, the bottom of the “What’s In A Name?” page identifies it simply as “Volume One.”

But what exactly is a Bashaba?

The students who created that first yearbook explained the unusual name themselves. Bashaba was an old term for a great Native American chief or leader. The editors chose the name because they wanted their new publication to represent leadership, ambition, achievement, strength, and goodwill among the students of Ennis High School.

They wrote that The Bashaba, “like the old Indian chief,” would seek to justify its name by presenting the best work of its students and encouraging them to “rejoice and grow strong by grace of its good will.”

More than 110 years later, this first volume provides a fascinating glimpse into the students who began the tradition of documenting the people, activities, and memories of Ennis High School.

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL EVE EHS!! 🦁

A few reminders from Mr. Garza’s Meet the Principal event on July 30 and the email that was sent out to all EHS students and parents on August 4:

🦁Student IDs: All students are required to wear their school-issued ID on a lanyard around their neck at all times while on campus. The first ID is provided at no cost. Replacement IDs will cost $5 each. Any student who did not get an ID badge at schedule pickup last week, should receive one by Friday, August 14.

🦁Student Parking Permits: Students who wish to park on campus must obtain an official EHS parking permit. To receive a permit, students must: Complete the parking decal application, present a valid Texas driver's license, and provide current proof of liability insurance for the registered vehicle that includes the students name.

🦁1st Day Schedule Pick-Up: Student names and 1st period classes will be posted in the cafeteria. Students will receive their TAN schedule in their 1st period class. You should also be able to check Skyward tonight for student schedules.

The first day of school is just ONE DAY AWAY!

As we prepare to welcome our students back tomorrow, please remember that traffic around our campuses—especially in drop-off and pick-up lanes—will be heavier than normal during the first week or so.

Bus arrival and drop-off times may also vary slightly as our drivers and students become familiar with new routes and schedules.

The safety and security of our students will always be our top priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone settles into the new school year routine.

Enrollment forms must be submitted by all Dual Credit students by 8/14.

‼️‼️IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NAVARRO COLLEGE DUAL CREDIT CLASSES ‼️‼️

Attention Navarro College dual credit students: all course registrations for Fall 2026 are due by Friday, August 14th. Registrations must be completed on the MyNC Self Service page.

1. Login to MyNC
2, Click the Menu icon
3. Scroll down and click Forms
4. Scroll down and click Dual Credit
Enrollment Form
5. The student must complete and
submit the enrollment form.
6. Then, the parent will receive an
email from Dynamic Forms, and he
or she must create an account or
login to sign the enrollment form.
7. The EHS counselor will then be
notified of the form submission, and
enter the dual credit course info,
before sending the completed
form to Navarro College.
