END OF WEEK UPDATE:
Students are working hard and our car loop line is faster than ever! -approximately 15 minutes from 3:15 to the last car! All bus riders are picked up and headed out by 3:20pm which is another record time!

I did want to address a couple things that are causing some issues with traffic jams and bus route times-
Please remember that our STAFF parking lot contains the BUS LOOP and is off limits. There is a sign at the entrance stating EISD Personnel ONLY may enter that lot. ALWAYS AVOID PARKING IN THAT LOT and park in the parent parking lot please. This allows our bus traffic to get in and out faster.

I also need to address the term "walker". Parents are permitted to walk up with their car tags and pick their students up from their designated hallways. This is what a "walker" pick up is. Our crossing guard is available to help parents and students safely cross or stop traffic to allow buses the right of way.

We do not allow students to walk off campus and get into cars that have not be verified by the teacher. Doing so would create a HUGE liability for the school in the event of an incident. Please be understanding about this. The safety of our students is our top priority.
If this had been occuring before- I sincerely apologize, but it will not be happening again.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE FIN DE SEMANA:
¡Los estudiantes están trabajando arduamente y nuestra fila de vehículos para la salida es más rápida que nunca! ¡Aproximadamente 15 minutos, desde las 3:15 hasta que sale el último automóvil! Todos los estudiantes que usan el autobús son recogidos y parten antes de las 3:20 p. m., ¡lo cual es otro tiempo récord!

Quisiera abordar un par de asuntos que están causando problemas de congestión vehicular y afectando los tiempos de las rutas de los autobuses:
Por favor, recuerden que nuestro estacionamiento para el PERSONAL incluye la zona de circulación de autobuses y su acceso está restringido. Hay un letrero en la entrada que indica que solo el personal de EISD puede ingresar a esa área. Por favor, EVITEN ESTACIONARSE EN ESE LUGAR y utilicen el estacionamiento destinado a los padres de familia. Esto permite que el tráfico de autobuses fluya con mayor rapidez.

También necesito aclarar el término "walker" (estudiante que se retira a pie). Se permite que los padres lleguen caminando, portando su tarjeta de identificación del vehículo, para recoger a sus hijos en los pasillos designados. A esto es a lo que llamamos una recogida a pie ("walker pick-up"). Nuestro agente de cruce escolar está disponible para ayudar a padres y estudiantes a cruzar de manera segura o para detener el tráfico y dar paso a los autobuses.

No permitimos que los estudiantes salgan del plantel caminando para subir a vehículos que no hayan sido verificados por el maestro. Hacerlo supondría una enorme responsabilidad legal para la escuela en caso de algún incidente. Les pido comprensión al respecto; la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes es nuestra máxima prioridad.
Si esto había ocurrido anteriormente, ofrezco mis más sinceras disculpas, pero no volverá a suceder.

ALL PARENTS BE ADVISED--
We will not be changing a students mode of transportation or allowing parents to sign students out after 2:30pm

**If you need to come in and sign your student out for an emergency purpose/doctor's appointment, we can still accommodate that need. All others will need to wait until 3:15 at dismissal, please.

Another important note:
ALL 2nd and 3rd grade students have 2 teachers now. This means they have one class in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Students getting picked up around 2:15-3PM are missing a large portion of their 2 block math or reading classes and are not getting to complete the lessons. Please take this into consideration when attempting to sign them out early. They will still be responsible for the work missed after leaving early.

Otro punto importante:
Todos los estudiantes de 2.º y 3.er grado tienen ahora dos maestros. Esto significa que tienen una clase por la mañana y otra por la tarde. Los estudiantes a quienes se recoge entre las 2:15 y las 3:00 p. m. se pierden una gran parte de sus clases de matemáticas o lectura (que constan de dos bloques) y no logran completar las lecciones. Por favor, tengan esto en cuenta si planean retirarlos antes de tiempo. Los alumnos seguirán siendo responsables de realizar el trabajo que no hayan completado debido a su salida anticipada.

I want to take a second and thank my Houston parents. I truly appreciate each smile and nod of understanding. Each pat on the back as you leave. Each one of you that have gone with the flow while we navigate our new normal. Your patience means so much and willingness to understand and let us figure it out has helped the teachers feel more at ease. When the staff is at ease, they are better able to think clearly and move more efficiently.

I expect that dismissal today will move even quicker with more parents getting car tags settled. Please let teachers know if you are still in need of them. I will not be charging for extras this year. Let's just continue to work together and do what best for OUR babies! They are watching and listening to everything we say about one another.

On another note- the students are having a blast inside! VERY little tears, lots of laughter. I continue to be blown away by how well they are listening and following instructions. Please keep asking them about their day and encouraging their hard work because we are seeing it come to life all day.

The staff appreciate you. WE are a team dedicated to being a lifelong part of your child's story. I am always here if you have questions. Please always reach out and come to us first- we will find you the right answers.

Quiero tomarme un momento para agradecer a los padres de Houston. Aprecio sinceramente cada sonrisa y cada gesto de comprensión, así como cada palmada en la espalda al despedirse. Gracias a todos los que se han adaptado con flexibilidad mientras nos acostumbramos a nuestra nueva normalidad. Su paciencia significa mucho; su disposición para comprender y darnos espacio para organizarnos ha ayudado a que los maestros se sientan más tranquilos. Cuando el personal está tranquilo, puede pensar con mayor claridad y actuar con más eficiencia.

Espero que la salida de hoy sea aún más rápida, ya que más padres han tramitado sus tarjetas de identificación para el vehículo. Por favor, avisen a los maestros si todavía necesitan una. Este año no cobraré por las tarjetas adicionales. ¡Sigamos trabajando juntos y haciendo lo mejor para NUESTROS pequeños! Ellos observan y escuchan todo lo que decimos los unos de los otros.

Por otro lado, ¡los alumnos se lo están pasando de maravilla dentro del aula! Hay muy pocas lágrimas y muchas risas. Me sigue impresionando lo bien que escuchan y siguen las instrucciones. Por favor, sigan preguntándoles cómo les fue en el día y reconociendo su esfuerzo, ya que nosotros vemos cómo todo eso se manifiesta a lo largo de la jornada.

There will be some adjustments made from last year's lunch procedures. Please be advised of these changes and know that they are being made for very specific reasons. We must ensure the most effective school environment for our students.

Families are welcome to join in at lunch beginning August 24th once we have given the students plenty of time to get comfortable with their tables and the expectations for lunchroom behavior and how to behave with guests present.

If you have questions or need further clarification, please call the front office & ask to speak with the principal.

*HERE IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PICK UP THIS AFTERNOON:

**If you have not filled out the bus registration form for THIS year, your child will not be permitted on the bus today. If you filled out the form TODAY, your child will not be permitted to ride until tomorrow. Please make sure you have registered your bus rider this school year.

***If you are walking up to pick up your child this afternoon, please line up outside in front of the hallway they are in and at 3:15, teachers will be there to release your children to you. (ONLY 3RD GRADE IS RELEASED FROM THE FRONT DOORS)

TODAY ONLY- please be ready with your child's name and teacher or your car tag you received at Meet the Teacher. These helps us to get the kids to you faster. Starting tomorrow- you will need your car tag to pick them up at all times.

Arrival: Parents may walk their students in beginning at 7-7:15 am on Wednesday only. Please wait in the gym with your student until directed to the classrooms. Plan on leaving them at their classroom door and returning to your car as there will not be enough space for all of you to remain in the rooms/halls.
Tardy bell rings at 7:45.

Dismissal Begins at 3:10 with Bus riders and Car riders at 3:15pm.

Please make sure to have your car tag by Thursday when coming through the loop. You will need the tag if you walk up, as well.

DO NOT USE THE PARKING LOT CLOSEST TO THE APARTMENTS. WE NEED THAT AREA CLEARED FOR ALL BUSES AND SHUTTLES ONLY.

The first day of school is just ONE DAY AWAY!

As we prepare to welcome our students back tomorrow, please remember that traffic around our campuses—especially in drop-off and pick-up lanes—will be heavier than normal during the first week or so.

Bus arrival and drop-off times may also vary slightly as our drivers and students become familiar with new routes and schedules.

The safety and security of our students will always be our top priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone settles into the new school year routine.
