From our Academic Team coach, Dr. Lentz: "On Monday our High School Academic Team beat Cherokee and Pond-Creek Hunter in back-to-back games to easily take the District top spot. This sets us up for a great seating in the Regional Tournament in November. We were able to take a large portion of our team, including seniors Ramey Wilkins, Emily Crabtree, and Zoey Young who led as Team Captain for most of the tournament. Juniors Lily Taylor, Elyse Kennedy, and Cal Cayot also put up many points. Sophomores Olivia Weedn, Sam Kim, and Beau Russell got playing time, with Olivia getting a point and Sam and Beau getting in their first High School level games. Finally our two Freshmen, Dax Hisey and Zachary Haynes, helped greatly by filling in as the scorekeepers and timekeepers that each team must provide or be disqualified. This allowed them to learn the ins and outs of the high school academic team format, as both previously contributed to OBA's winning middle school team in previous years. Our team is set up for success this year, and we're hoping to repeat our run to at least Area again, and maybe even the State Tournament."

OBA SEES INFLUX OF COACHES VIA VANCE TIES
(Joe Malan | Enid News & Eagle)
ENID, Okla. — Oklahoma Bible Academy is getting an assist from Vance Air Force Base.

Several women whose husbands are stationed at Vance have been coaching at OBA this year and beyond.

Andrew Wilkins, headmaster at OBA, said it wasn’t the result of any kind of established program at Vance, rather the women happened to hear of the opportunities available at the school through other means.

“One of the ladies, the softball coach (Kinsey Chambers), married into kind of what I call an OBA family, you know, alumni and that kind of stuff,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins said Chambers has three in-laws who graduated from OBA, as well as a current brother-in-law attending. She had played and coached at the University of Tennessee.

Two others got connected to the program via church, as they happened to be attending a church that one of the coaches was going to.

Ryann Morton played college volleyball and majored in biblical studies at Hannibal-LeGrange University in Missouri.

“The players enjoyed connecting with Coach Morton when she substituted in Bible class,” Wilkins said. “The players appreciate that her correction is so knowledgeable, focused and direct, but also patient and understanding.”
