Englewood Early Childhood Education This page is for families and community members in the Englewood School District to be informed of ECE events, child development information and resources.

The Englewood School District is proud to offer the Englewood Early Childhood Education Program at Maddox to families in the community. Our mission is to help children develop a positive attitude toward learning and to support children’s social and educational development. We provide integrated services that build a foundation for lifelong learning and support the role of parents as partners in their child’s educational development. Funded preschool is available for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old who meet eligibility requirements through the Colorado Preschool Program, Head Start or Special Education and provides a comprehensive system of services which address child, family and community needs. Preschool is also available for children on a tuition basis.

Singing nursery rhymes with children is not only fun but is an important step in helping them learn to rhyme. Children who know how to rhyme have higher success learning to read. Some of the rhymes we do at school are:
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"
"Hickory Dickory Dock"
"Jack and Jill"
"The Itsy Bitsy Spider"
and "Humpty Dumpty" is always a favorite to act out.

This week the preschoolers are learning all about colors, art words, and sorting things that are the same and different. Color experiments and mixing are so much fun.

What an amazing first day of preschool! It was so fun to see all of the happy and smiling faces of 3 and 4 year olds today!
