Set on beautiful park like grounds where you can take lessons in Piano, Flute, baking or sewing. Laurie Amsden has been teaching music for well over 40 years. Her flute students are frequently recognized as an Amsden protege' by their full bodied, professional tone and technique. Her students have won awards, scholarships and recognition and some have even been chosen to travel to Europe through t
heir music programs at school. Amsden's own son won a $100,000 music scholarship to study music composition. Laurie has designed and developed a “Little Mozart” course for the younger students to teach early music appreciation, history and theory. Through the course students use art and listening skills to understand and appreciate the instruments of the orchestra. Hands on games, teach reading music and the most basic piano skills. From there students can move on to recorder lessons or even beginner piano. Laurie was responsible for the grass roots program of a home school orchestra and choir, satisfying the states mandate for music education and a socialization option for home school students. She has also visited many school band flute sections, to teach sectionals as a professional flutist. As a Flute student herself, Laurie was a member of the All – State, All – New England and All -Mid- Eastern Bands. She has won many talent awards and at one time, compared to world renowned flutists of the 1970's. She attended The Hartford Conservatory Of Music and has been an on and off member of community orchestras throughout the southern New England area.
