Leete Stevens Funeral Home 05/13/2026

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Richard Earl Ferry, 79, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of quiet devotion, steady routines, and deep love for his family. Born on October 27, 1946 in Enfield, CT, Rich lived a life defined not by grand gestures, but by meaningful consistency in everyday moments.

Rich was a loyal and devoted husband and a proud father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, Sandra Ferry (aka Goof), and two children Brett Ferry, and wife Toni-Ann Ferry of Westfield, NJ, and Allison Daly (aka Zimmy), and husband Colin Daly of Enfield, CT. Nothing brought him greater joy than being “Papa” to his five grandchildren— Ryleigh and Avery Ferry, and Madison, Mia, and Colton Daly. He relished in their accomplishments and could always be found on the sidelines of an EHS court or field, at a Springfield College soccer match, or smiling proudly in the audience at a dance recital or orchestra concert. In his final year, when his illness made life difficult, his regular visits to Madison’s thrift shop would give him a much needed reprieve from the battle he was facing.

Rich was a man of routine, comforted by the simple rhythms of life. An early riser, he began his days before dawn with a 7/11 coffee—the only place open at 4 a.m.—followed by his daily stop at the post office. As a proud member of the Panera Bread Club, Rich would round out his mornings socializing with other “members”. He found joy in familiar places and faces. Afternoons often meant a well-earned nap on the couch, usually with the stock market ticker softly playing in the background. Sunday evenings were reserved for Chicago Sam’s, where he would faithfully dine with his buddies despite his ongoing critiques of the food. Rich was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, though he quietly rooted for the underdog, and he rarely missed Ohio State football, the Daytona 500, or a Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Rich carried himself with quiet wisdom and pride. He showed his love not through words, but through acts of generosity and unwavering presence. He was an avid reader, often immersed in novels by James Patterson and David Baldacci, always eager for a good story. Summers brought him to his favorite spot, the beach and boardwalk at Hampton Beach, NH. You would find him playing the pinball machines at Fun-a-Rama, riding the frigid waves or taking target practice at the shooting gallery.

He worked alongside his father in owning Earl’s Gulf Station before dedicating 19 years of service to the Town of Enfield Public Works Department. Beyond his work, he gave generously of his time, volunteering to correct papers at St. Martha’s School and coaching Enfield Little League, shaping young lives with patience and care. Rich had a special love for animals, and it brings comfort to know that Max, D.O.G and Koda will surely be waiting to greet him.

He will be remembered as a man who found happiness in the little things, who lived with quiet strength, and whose greatest pride was his family. His presence was steady, his love constant, and his memory will live on in the routines he cherished and the lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rich’s life; visitation hours will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 4:30-7:00 at Leete Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. The family asks that you honor Rich by wearing your favorite sports team gear, because “fancy” was just never an option. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 12:30 at Leete Stevens Funeral Home, immediately followed by burial at St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, King Street, Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to Enfield Little League or Dakin Humane Society. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com,
