TJ Watson Elementary PTA and School News

Dear TJ Watson Community,

The first regular day of attendance for all TJ Watson students is this Thursday, Sept. 10th. Student drop-off is from 8:40-9:00 AM. Students eating breakfast at school will enter the building starting at 8:40 AM and proceed to the cafeteria. All other students will enter the building from 8:45-9:00 AM (Admin and/or the SRO are out front until 8:50- so, between 8:50-9:00 AM, students can walk themselves to the main entrance). After 9:00 AM, parents/guardians will need to walk their child to the main entrance and sign them in to the main office (you can park in the bus loop).

Parent drop-off (via vehicle): come up the driveway and take an immediate right and follow the outside of the parking lot until you reach the stop sign next to the front corner of the building. For the 1st several weeks, a staff member will be at the stop sign to help direct your child to the main entrance.
** once all buses leave, parents/guardians can drive through the bus loop towards the main entrance 8:50

Walkers: Change from previous years- walkers will assemble at the main entrance to enter the school building.
Bussers: will exit their buses (8:40 for breakfast/8:45 all others) and enter the building through the main entrance. Staff members will be present to assist students entering the building.
Breakfast and Lunch- breakfast and lunch are free to all students. A copy of the menu will go home at the beginning of each month. You can also access the menu at: https://www.rockoncafe.org/union-endicott_home.aspx Students my also pack a lunch (staff is unable to heat any lunches that are brought in.

Dismissal- begins at 3:20 PM. Please send in a note on Thursday indicating how your child will be dismissed (riding the bus, parent pick-up at the cafeteria, or walker). If/When there is a temporary change in their regular dismissal- please send a note into their classroom teacher indicating the change and the date(s) of the change.

Parent pick-up: students will be dismissed to the cafeteria. Parents/guardians will need to sign their child out (please have an ID ready- even if we know you- this is for the safety of our children and part of our BOE Policy).
Walkers: students will assemble in two areas, depending on where they are dismissing to. Students walking towards Pembroke and/or Exeter will assemble outside of the gym (Mr. Zarzynski’s side- left side) and will be dismissed to the playground (4th grade wing). Students walking towards Ridgefield Rd. will be walked across the parking lot by a staff member (after buses depart).
** kindergarten students that are walkers must be met by a parent, guardian, or older sibling (this is for their safety).

Bussers: students will be dismissed to the front of the building by grade level (please be patient on the first day or two- we double check to make sure every student gets on the correct bus and dismissed to the correct bus stop).

Dear Union-Endicott Community,

As the fall athletic season starts to get into full swing, I wanted to take a minute to remind everyone of spectator expectations. We want all games to be safe and enjoyable for all those in attendance. Please...

-Cheer for our teams and not against our opponents

-remain in the stands and not in walkways

-play football and/or soccer in the grassy areas around the stadium, not on the black top, in front of the home bleachers.

Lastly but most importantly, bikes and scooters of any kind (electronic or otherwise) will not be allowed in or around the athletic facilities.

Anyone not following the above guidelines may be asked to leave the contest.

Dear TJ Families,

I hope your summer is going well. Listed below is few upcoming events. We look forward to seeing everyone very soon!



Kindergarten Jumpstart- Sept. 1-3 (8:40-11:40): The transportation department has sent emails to kindergarten families. If you are dropping off/picking your child up, please park in the parking lot and walk your child to the front entrance. Buses will be utilizing the front bus loop.



End of Summer Social- Sept 3rd (noon-1PM): Our End of Summer Social will take place in the Tiger Den. Class lists will be available, as well as information from the PTA. Pizza and water will be provided.



First day of school for students- Thursday, Sept. 10th.



Next week I will send out several messages regarding school processes and procedures (some have changed from last year).
