SLEA Therapies Speech Language & Educational Associates Assessment, intervention and parent training programs are available to the pediatric population as well as to adults.

We are proud of the fact that our staff includes speakers of English, Spanish, Hebrew, Armenian, Farsi, Arabic, Yiddish, and Greek. Speech, Language & Educational Associates includes staff that have specialized training in assessment and treatment of speakers whose second language is English. We work in our offices, in schools and in the home environments. We enjoy what we do and it shows!

Before a child takes a bite, there are many important steps along the way. 🍎🥄

Children may be overwhelmed due to:
➡️Sensory sensitivities
➡️Anxiety
➡️Motor challenges

That's why our OT team often use the Feeding Hierarchy—a gradual, child-centered approach that helps children build comfort and confidence with food at their own pace.

Every stage is meaningful:
🩵 Tolerating – Being near food without distress
💜 Interacting – Playing with or exploring food without pressure to eat
💙 Smelling – Getting familiar with different scents
💚Touching – Exploring food with hands or utensils
💛 Tasting – Tiny tastes, licks, or kisses
🧡 Eating – Taking bites and enjoying a variety of foods

Progress doesn't always begin with taking a bite—and that's okay!
