Westmark alums showed up with Lion Pride for their graduating younger siblings as they presented their capstone projects to the community. We're so proud of everyone in the Class of 2026 for completing their independent research on topics near and dear to their hearts and minds. Just one more step on the road to commencement!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2026: JAMES—James was a sophomore when he joined the Westmark Lion community. During what he calls a “motivating, challenging, assistive” time here, he has developed a range of strengths and interests, from time management and “chunking work” to creative writing and teaching. Chemistry was particularly fun since it’s where students get to “blow stuff up”! When not in class, James has taken part in tech theater, Eye to Eye , soccer, basketball, and cross country. He absolutely loved going to Peru on this year’s International Service Trip.

After graduation, James will attend Mitchell College to earn his bachelor’s degree, with plans to become a teacher and a camp counselor one day. He will miss his good friends and teachers here at Westmark, where he says he learned how to be more himself. To the Class of 2027, James advises, “Do every activity. It might not be your first choice but trust me: you’ll wish you had.”

Congratulations and best wishes, James.

A deviously delicious production of “Little Shop of Horrors” was served up by our Middle and Upper School theater artists earlier this month. Thank you to the cast and crew for entertaining us all with this charmingly tongue-in-cheek horror comedy. A special standing ovation for the graduating seniors who have energized our Theater Arts department over the years, both on stage and behind the scenes.

“Westmark has helped me grow both academically and personally,” remarks Campbell, who joined the Class of 2026 in Grade 4. “It has given me a supportive environment where I have built confidence, developed leadership skills, and become more independent. Through my classes and extracurricular activities, I’ve learned how to advocate for myself, think critically, and take initiative.” Science is Campbell’s top subject because she enjoys learning how everything connects, from how planets form to how organisms evolved over time. “Science keeps me curious and encourages me to ask bigger questions about the world.”

Campbell has been actively involved in Student Council—on which she currently serves as President—the Big Lion/Little Lion mentorship program, and the Social Justice Club. When she heads to Syracuse University to study exercise science (or another field related to sports medicine), she will cherish the time she has spent here with friends. Campbell will also miss her Westmark teachers. Her hope for the future is to work with professional athletes, helping them stay healthy, prevent injury, and perform at their highest level.

Campbell imparts this advice to the Class of 2027: “Take advantage of every opportunity and do not be afraid to get involved. Try new things, step into leadership roles, and challenge yourself, even if it feels uncomfortable at first.”

Congratulations and best wishes, Campbell!

Zac began at Westmark as a freshman, and it’s been an “exciting, eventful, and memorable” experience—one that has opened him up to trying new things, getting out of his comfort zone, and developing real-world perspectives. Of all his classes, music has been Zac’s favorite: “I have a strong love for playing in a band with classmates and performing at events.”

“The Denver college trip is my favorite memory,” he says, “because I was with all of my best friends, sharing many laughs and fun experiences with each other.” After graduating, Zac will miss seeing friends every day and sharing unforgettable moments with them and his Westmark teachers. This fall, Zac will start Loyola Marymount University, with an aim to study business. What does he hope to be doing in the future? Creating and running a business with an app he is currently working on “and searching for the things that make me the most happy in life.”

Zac has this insight to share with the incoming seniors: “It feels like last week I was just at orientation…. Don’t take the time you have left for granted.”

Congratulations and best wishes, Zac!

Just days away from the last day of instruction, these future Middle Schoolers were laser-focused on today's hands-on math investigations. Good job, fifth graders, reviewing decimals, fractions, volume, coordinate planes, and more.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2026: LEO—Since enrolling at Westmark in eighth grade, Leo has participated actively in Westmark’s performing arts scene. He has acted in many plays and become a dedicated and talented musician. It’s no surprise that music is by far his fave class: “It’s creative, and I like playing drums and guitar with other people.” Leo has also competed on Westmark’s Upper School golf team. He thoroughly enjoyed “all of junior year—and this year so far has been really fun!”

When asked how Westmark has made a difference in his life, Leo says, “Finding my passions and figuring out the kind of people I want to be friends with was huge, and I’ll take it with me to the next chapter.” Once he graduates, he will miss his “friends, the community, the electives, the easygoing people.” This fall, he will attend Chapman University. In ten years, he hopes he’ll be married and own a metal record label! Leo advises the Class of 2027 to “have fun, but do you work and stay in it.”

Congratulations and best wishes, Leo!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2026: LULA—Lula has had an “enlightening, memorable, and supportive” four years at Westmark. She has enjoyed the chance to make films and watch her peers’ films in her Digital Arts classes. Beyond the classroom, she has served on Student Council and the Admission Ambassadors team and has played both soccer and flag football as a Westmark Lion. Lula’s experience here has had an impact on her education: “Westmark has helped me understand the way I learn and how to organize my materials better, which will benefit me for life.”

As she looks ahead to studying communications arts and sciences at Pennsylvania State University in the fall, Lula will miss the strong bonds with her Westmark teachers and the amount of help they are able to offer students due to the small class sizes. She will never forget growing closer to her friends during the college trip to Denver. With senior year almost over, Lula has this advice for next year’s seniors: “Do not procrastinate and lock in with all your work.”

Congratulations and best wishes, Lula!
