Lake Michigan Beach Lifeguarding

Lake Michigan Beach Lifeguarding Currently this page is just a Beach Lifeguard, doing part of the preventive job of a beach lifeguard. Doing what I can with what I have.

Providing info to help people to make smart water activity choices. Which is a ton of experience and learning. There is a lack of lifeguards on the Public beaches on Lake Michigan and we hope to change that. I have lifeguarded on ocean beaches for the National Park Service, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and New Zealand Surf Lifesaving. A lifeguard service would serve to teach the visiti

ng public about water safety around waves, piers, sandbars, rip-currents. The service would also train and employ (or volunteer at first) skilled open water lifeguards, and support safety at open water swimming races, and other events, and organise some races as well. I think it may start small with active lifeguarding on weekends only at first and on site beach safety classes, or maybe beach safety classes for school groups in the spring. It may have to be funded in a non-profit way atfirst through charity donations, philanthropy, grants, sponsors, fund-raisers. I'm not sure the state or county parks have money in their budget for lifeguards, infact I'm pretty sure that's why they stopped having lifeguards. Some of the best lifeguard agencies in the world are funded by charity giving.
