Hello Jefferson Community!
If you haven't noticed, a few green thumbs on staff have been busy beautifying Jefferson's front gardens! Summer will soon be upon us and we are looking for volunteer green-thumbs to carefully care for our Jefferson gardens over the summer months!
Those who sign-up for a summer week would be expected to do these few jobs to upkeep the gardens:
Give all plants and flowers a good drink of water - at the very least - every other day. Unless we receive rain and/or it's exceptionally hot and dry - more or less watering may be necessary. Best time of day to water in the heat of the summer would be early morning or late afternoon/evening.
When finished, wind up the hose by the faucet and turn off the water.
Pull any weeds that pop-up.
Pick-up and dispose of any litter/garbage.
Observe any butterflies, bees, or birds having fun in the space!
A school water hose will be hooked up and the water on. Watering cans will be available for those plants the hose won't reach. The dumpster is located in the alley for any weeds or litter.

If you sign-up, I will send out additional information as we get closer to the end of the school year!
Additionally, we are looking to add a few more specific species of flowering shrubs, bushes, and flowers to the gardens and around the school this Spring. If you know of any contacts at a local garden center or nursery who would entertain any donations or discounts to our school, please reach out to Dr. Sue Fuller with their contact information. THANK YOU!!
