Lorain County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

NASCAR unveiled its first-ever Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.-branded show car in a historic partnership with the Black Greek-letter organization, per Watch The Yard.

The custom show car, designed by NASCAR Next intern and LSU student Camilla Wilkins-Bowens, debuted during the 2026 Delta Sigma Theta South Atlantic Regional Conference in Charlotte.

As we reflect on an inspiring weekend at the 52nd Midwest Regional Conference in Detroit, celebrating the Centennial of the Midwest Region, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Sorors of the Lorain County (OH) Alumnae Chapter who represented us with grace, excellence, and unwavering dedication.

As members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, we proudly carry forward the work of expanding opportunity, advancing justice, and strengthening our democracy for generations to come.

We celebrate freedom while acknowledging that it has not always been experienced equally. We honor those whose courage, sacrifice, and perseverance challenged our nation to become more just, and all who continue that work today.

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.
