LCCC Early College High School

LCCC Early College High School Early College High School is an exciting opportunity for students to earn their high school diploma and their associates degree!

Why the Early College High School? Recognizing the need for Lorain County to foster a more educated workforce to meet the demands of our changing economy inspired the creation of this innovative partnership with Lorain County Community College. Our communities will increase the number of first generation college graduates, equipping them with the education and experience they need to succeed in life and family-supporting careers. With the support and involvement of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Knowledge Works Foundation, and individuals from our communities, the Early College model was adopted.

Our 9th and 10th graders had the opportunity to learn about the origin of hip hop, and to explore on their own at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. It was a great way to learn about how music can create positive change, as well as learning about all of the amazing artists that have influenced us over the years. We also watched a clip of PRINCE play one of the BEST guitar solos in a small theater complete with strobe lights and LOUD speakers!

Students went on a field trip to Timken in Canton, and the University of Akron to tour the Engineering department. Big THANK YOU to College Now for providing our students this opportunity, and to the University of Akron College of Engineering staff that took time out of their day to teach our students about all of the opportunities in the field of engineering.
