Friday interesting fact by Melissa.
Schools are inspected bi-annually by the county health department - but this is basically for show. A school can not be found in violation of anything and the health department can only make recommendations.
In 2003 a boy in Lebanon OH died as a result of a 209 pound table flipping and landing on him. Research showed it was known that these tables were dangerous and shouldn't be used. His parents went to court and passed Jared's Law - which made school inspections increasingly strict and details, violatable and actionable. Sadly, in 2009 the schools appealed and won stating it was impossible to meet all the requirements - the actual work and the cost.

So we went from one extreme, to the other, back to the original. Clearly there has to be a middle ground on this, ESPECIALLY in older buildings for kids with medical needs.
Next up - see if the county (which is in "charge" of this building) has anything at all on their long term list for updates/changes/etc to our kid's school building.
Learning as I go, glad I'm not shy lol. STAY TUNED!!!
