🎉 BIG NEWS FOR NURSES: Lorain County Community College is expanding opportunities for future nurses!
Beginning Fall 2026, LCCC will offer a fully online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN), creating an affordable and flexible pathway for registered nurses to advance their careers while continuing to work.
With online coursework, multiple scheduling options, and LCCC's low tuition rates, nurses can earn their bachelor's degree close to home—without putting their lives or careers on hold.
The new RN-to-BSN program responds to growing healthcare workforce needs across Northeast Ohio and marks LCCC's third bachelor's degree program offered directly by the College.

The deadline to apply for fall semester is technically September 7, 2026. However, the Scholarship Committee will begin reviewing applications and making awards starting June 29, 2026. Once all budgeted funds have been awarded, the application will close. So, the sooner students apply, the better! Students can go to https://myscholarships.lorainccc.edu/ to apply.
1. Rose Marie E. (Butkiewicz) Bommer Scholarship Fund
Criteria:
Intended to support LCCC/UP students w/ preference given to those who meet the following criteria:
*Scholarship is for current nursing students
*Preference will be given to single parents
*Minimum 2.5 GPA
2. Kevin P. Conry Memorial Scholarship Fund
Criteria:
Intended for students in the RN program with preference given to students that meet the following criteria:
*Sophomore or higher
*2.5 GPA minimum
*Resident of Lorain or Erie County
*Preference - Firelands High School graduate
*Should have some volunteer time involving children
3. Maria Tenne DiFilippo Scholarship
Criteria:
This scholarship is intended for any Lorain County High School Graduate enrolled at LCCC or an LCCC UP school that has demonstrated financial need and is pursuing an Associate's Degree or higher in a healthcare related field that involves direct patient care.
4. James A. Gamellia Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
Preference will be given to those who meet the following criteria:
*Students who currently or have previously worked in a long term care facility while enrolled in an Allied Health Program;
*Must have a 2.5 LCCC cumulative grade point average (Please note, new students are exempt from this requirement);
*Submit one letter of recommendation from your supervisor, counselor, or teachers along with this application;
*Must be enrolled at least half time (6 or more credit hours) in the upcoming semester's classes in a program leading to a degree or certificate by the application due date;
*Scholarship may be used for payment of tuition, fees, books, and supplies.
5. Phyllis J. Goldbach Memorial Scholarship
For LCCC & UP Nursing students with preference given to a student that desires to work in the field of mental health.
6. The Louise R. Horn RN, Scholarship in Nursing
Intended for LCCC and/or UP nursing students. Preference will be given to applicants with financial need; academic achievement; second term or longer status; and is either divorced or a widow/widower.
7. The Jake and Gen RN Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Applicant and recipient criteria:
*Applicant must be an undergraduate Registered Nursing student (not RNs pursuing a bachelor’s degree) enrolled in LCCC or LCCC’s University Partnership Program.
*First preference will be given to a student who is a graduate of Marion L. Steele High School of the Amherst School District – but all may apply.
*The scholarship will be awarded to a needing and deserving student.
*The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies. The recipient must demonstrate unmet need after grants and other awards.
8. Roseann Kaminsky Nursing Scholarship
*Must be LCCC Associate Degree Nursing student in your second-year of nursing clinical courses.
*Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or better who demonstrate financial need, and who intend to continue their education for a RN to BSN or RN to MSN after graduation.
9. Ladder to Success
Intended to support LCCC/UP students w/ preference given to those who meet the following criteria:
*A current full-time resident of Lorain County
*A graduating senior from Elyria High School or Elyria Catholic High School with a final GPA of at least 2.75
*Preference given to a 1st generation college student
*Registered as a full-time student at LCCC for the upcoming fall semester
*Majoring in Accounting, Computer Technology, Physics or Radiology
*Award applicable for tuition and fees only
10. The Lorain County Commissioners Health & Safety Scholarship
Scholarships from the Fund shall be restricted to students enrolled in LCCC's education and workforce development programs in the areas of Health and Wellness and Criminal Justice such as, but not limited to: Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, State-Tested Nursing Assistant, Criminal Justice, Police Academy and/or Addiction Counseling programs.
11. Sylvia Zilch Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Intended to support full or part-time LCCC or UP Nursing or Allied Health students. First preference will be given to students who work at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Lorain, Ohio on Cooper Foster Park Road.
