Mark your calendars for the BIG MEETING! All majors in the Department of Performing Arts gather at 4:30pm on Tuesday in McCrary to recognize student award winners and to take a look at the year ahead. We will then dedicate a memorial bench to Prof. Fred Rubeck and hold a reception to kick off the new year!

We are asking that everyone please bring a non-perishable item that we will be donating to the Cancer Center of Greensboro in honor of Fred.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Chip Johnson. With his gentle, easy-going manner and his wonderful sense of humor, Chip was a beloved teacher and colleague in the Department of Performing Arts for many years. He appeared frequently in productions at Greensboro's Equity theatre, the Triad Stage, as well as with the International Black Theatre Festival, but he was always willing to entertain a proposal that he join the cast of an Elon production, appearing over the years as The Starkeeper in πΆπ‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘’π‘ π‘’π‘™, Grandpa in π‘Œπ‘œπ‘’ πΆπ‘Žπ‘›'𝑑 π‘‡π‘Žπ‘˜π‘’ 𝐼𝑑 π‘Šπ‘–π‘‘β„Ž π‘Œπ‘œπ‘’, another Grandpa in π‘…π‘Žπ‘”π‘‘π‘–π‘šπ‘’, Pops in π‘‡β„Žπ‘’ 1940𝑠 π‘…π‘Žπ‘‘π‘–π‘œ π»π‘œπ‘’π‘Ÿ, Joe in π‘Šπ‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘˜π‘–π‘›π‘”, and Jekyll's Father in π½π‘’π‘˜π‘¦π‘™π‘™ & 𝐻𝑦𝑑𝑒. His kind presence in the Center for the Arts will certainly be missed. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro at 11 am on September 11.
