Guided Chaos

Guided Chaos We teach you how to ANTICIPATE and move first -- efficiently and devastatingly. So why teach them to women, seniors, or smaller people?

https://guidedchaos.kartra.com/page/home Free-form, adaptive self-defense, reality based hand-to-hand Close Quarters Combat, Modified Native American Ground-fighting and weapons usage all focusing on universal principles of combative movement. TRAIN UNIVERSAL MOVEMENT PRINCIPLES INSTEAD OF RIGID, LIMITED TECHNIQUES

Real violence has NO choreography and looks nothing like what you see in the vast

majority of martial arts schools or movies. But since REAL violence can attack without warning, we teach you how to adapt, IMPROVISE and survive with fluid, ruthless, dynamic motion. SELF-DEFENSE THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE

Forensic research has shown repeatedly that patterned, fancy, or sportive self-defense methods fail during real violent encounters -- even with gifted athletes. Learn how to maximize whatever physical attributes you already have with adaptive, natural motion. PHYSICALLY-ENHANCING, LIFE-CHANGING AND FUN! Who knew that the most innovative self-defense system in generations, created by a former law enforcement officer and veteran of over 100 brutal violent encounters, could be so easy-to-learn, physically enhancing and best of all, fun?

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:
4/17/15

--Give them a hand to touch, then take it away.
--CBOX clear hit immed! Pull yourself IN and Behind
--Corkscrew hit ALWAYS (takes balance simult.)
--WHERE WOULD I STEP TO KILL THIS GUY TRYING TO KILL ME IMMEDIATELY? (AND NOT BE KILLED IN TURN)
--Make A rocket step/fake invisibly, quietly (no stomping)
--DO NOT CONTROL ARMS: PULSE, DESTROY OR GHOST
--Pulse/hit/evade simult.
--Lean one way, hit the other
--DON'T SPAR! ALWAYS MOVE IN AND FINISH THEM ON EVERY STRIKE
--John: FR: snap hands down don't just raise them. [?]
--Only present soft parts of arms for stealth; every bone contact point is a pulse AND NEEDS TO BE HIT OFF OF. Predict their response based on the pulse. Ex: Loosely hold wrist, press one side with finger like you're going to grab, they roll wrist away but you roll with it and then grab, slide off and hit.
--Be extremely light and extremely hard

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]: 2/21/15

--Combat Boxing: stay in contact with elbows or close and pivot strike (hammer/back/forefist off of elbow pivot contact).
--John ALWAYS STAYS IN CONTACT, but like a ghost. Don't disconnect.
--Downward, inward arcing palm strike clear (finger flick is gravy)
--Drop/yank, rocket in
--Root them down (use hand to chop, grip, compress, backhand, whatever), kick their leg out or knee their thigh.
--DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO C BOX UNLESS YOU ROCKET IN, AND HIT!!!
--DROP HIT>PUSH IN MIDSECTION HARD!
--DON'T GET GRABBED!
--1 arm vs both eyes closed drill
--As you step past and touch lead hand, hit also on the way in and out, up and down, as you step to and touch other hand.

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:

1/11/15
--Always ghost move on entry
--Less bounce on destructions: hit>skim>hit
--Scooping/curving hit to arm, knocks arm into other hand
--Hit>grab same hand
--Rev rocker>hit
--Downward bent wrist hit with knuckles>tool replace [one of the 5 GC Combat Boxing fist strikes]:
--1. Forefist 2. Backfist 3. Hammerfist 4. Topfist 5. Foreknucklefist
--Light touch with one hand; hard strike with the other
--Get to the new root point FIRST
--Step to also cut off their feet (place right next to theirs so they can't step out)
--Equal pressure>iso>skim>skitter>unbalance or hit
--Sliding energy, invite in>unbalance or tool replace>hit
--Walking Touch drill on dummies/furniture: linger/change/skim/iso; change from fingers to heel of hand or jump to their elbow.
--Pocket and hit Simult.
--Hide your looseness, don't use it til you need it.
--Yield on one side, rocket-step drop hit on other
--Yielding/and/or sliding energy: let them commit, then take balance, tool replace or suspend and hit or pull and hit
--Suspend so THEY release and you hit
--Keep changing reference points to better, body aligned positions (finger skitter, slide or skim)
--Step out, double kick with same leg, one to each knee

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:

8/20/14
--Up elbow strike to hammer fist down
--Use elbow flow: stab, destroy their arms/hands
--HIT ARMS AS PART OF FLOW (NOT JUST WEASELING) WITH CHOPS, PUNCHES, ELBOWS
--SQUEEZE (pulse) their arms in slightly with forearms or elbows to set up reaction
--More stealthy, curving fingertip action with small pulses to get a reaction
--Use up elbow to clear same side arm's hand for punch
--Use fingers to skip to new control points
--Leave 20% of yield in reserve to suck them in and break, torque, etc., grab above elbow and torque inwards or gently place vert elbow against arm as breaking lever
--ONE fake ONLY! (two or more gives them time to recover)
--Never give attacker a square target
--Combat flow with KNEES, kicks, DOWN elbows
--DON'T LET THEM TOUCH YOUR ELBOWS! If they do, hammer fist their hands
--Iso/tool replace string drill, clear arms without touching elbows (forearm to upper arm)
--Iso string drill with puppeteering, rising falling arms
--MORE CENTERLINE HITTING EVEN WHEN THERE'S SIDE PRESSURE (DON'T CIRCLE OUT SO WIDELY--WASTED MOTION)
--AS SOON AS THEY COMPRESS IN, SHOOT STRAIGHT
STRIKES IN WITH SUBTLE SHOULDER GHOSTING ACTION
--NEVER GIVE ATTACKER A PERPENDICULAR TARGET! DON'T JUST POCKET, TURN
--MAKE ALL THEIR SHOTS GLANCING HITS

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:

6/7/14
--Let them move first (sliding energy--stay put)
--Use more corkscrew energy (circular/spiral)
--Step to side hit/push with heel of hand (puppeteering)
--Turn more on incoming centerline strikes and GET BEHIND THEM
--Gather>corkscrew>up, over and DOWN>rocket step in and hit
--If they're too rooted to be uprooted then use the gather as a PULSE and hit elsewhere
--Step to their side and in and smack (puppeteering)
--Do more side to side isolation hitting
--Once you get them to commit to a direction (via pulsing) they are momentarily vulnerable to a push from any other direction

[12/1/24 -- Clarification in response to question:
Sliding Energy: Letting attacker's arms' pressure slide by your arm's/hand's contact point, allowing you to move in without you actually moving in (they're involuntarily making you enter).
Corkscrew Energy: Related to above except you're actively/repeatedly changing your entry line to avoid blocks by spiraling your strikes in and still remaining in whisper-close contact. You see this when John's strikes enter and change direction like guided missiles.]

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:

5/21/14
--DROP ON THEIR STRIKE, THEN REDIRECT AND HIT!
--YOU CAN HIT THEIR CENTERLINE MORE EASILY THAN YOU THINK! Their hand is on top or outside, OXJAW TO CHEST GETS IN EASY BECAUSE IT'S A LESS "FORMED" WEAPON>ELBOW FOLLOW UP (ESPECIALLY IF THEY BLOCK OR POCKET OXJAW)
--WHENEVER YOUR ELBOW IS ON TOP OF THEIR ARM, PRESS DOWN TO UNBALANCE AND/OR HIT
--When their hand is pressed to your body, pocket and whip it out w/a destruction
--When forearm is being pushed, reverse grab drop/pull>hit
--Knife Drill: cover hand on top of knife hand, 360 degree rocket steps slash/stabs; front thrust kicks (groin/lower abdomen) or side kicks

More notes from my old GC notebook after working with John [Note: these are all movements I felt/experienced John doing, BUT, as John would say, do not memorize these as techniques, regard them simply as ideas to stimulate your own creativity]:

2/17/14
--Multi kick drill on same or both legs>different heights, targets, legs
--HIDE KICKS, do them like walking (LOW)
--High knee (fake)>kick super low
--Back kick, kick again
--DON'T WIND UP WIT COMBAT BOXING, don't form fists...SHORT DISTANCE open hand>fist with DROP
--High speed CBOX ricochet and stepping/circling/kicking; DON'T LET ANYONE TOUCH YOU. NO MORE TOUCH ENTRIES. BODY-HAND ISO/NO-PURCHASE ENTRY OR CBOX ENTRY, RICOCHET TO HITS, GRABS OR GHOST-HITS, DON'T FORM WEAPONS. STEP! STEP! STEP!
--REALLY CHEW THEM UP WITH ELBOWS TO BODY
--TURN SIDEWAYS ON UP ELBOWS
--Destruction on entry, then isolate
--Snap fists
--Casual and deceptive kicking
--Touch collapse/rocket/hit drill on BOB for students
--DOWN CBOX ENTRY TO LEAD ARM>PHONE>PHONE across middle underneath UP ELBOW CLEAR/destruction>CHOP OR HAMMERFIST
--Phone>chop
--Tim grab: he hits your arm first, then grabs (he alters the vector so he can grab it even if it's flying at high speed)
--Circle always!
