I was contacted by Long Island Press, a Mike Campbell is writing a story on 25th anniversary of 911 and would like to speak to soldiers or veterans who served during that time. (Iraq and Afghanistan) He can be reached at 631-942-0915.

John Eagan, is hospitalized at Northshore Stern Family Rehab hospital. We just found out and he's been there for several weeks. I already sent him a get-well card from the Post, and also spoke to him yesterday.

For the first time in its more than 100-year history, the Hempstead American Legion Post 390 has elected a woman to serve as commander, marking a milestone that its new leader hopes will help attract a new generation of veterans while building on the organization’s legacy of service.

Mary Burns, who has been a member of the post for 32 years and served as its treasurer, officially took over the leadership role after her predecessor stepped down due to health issues.
