A special thank you to all who attended our June 24, 2026 Ladies Night meeting at Pine City. We had the largest attendance since we restarted this chapter in August 2025. And to our guest speaker representing the Armed Women of America. Though Bobbi Jo was unable to attend, Rebecca Allen provided great insight into the organization and the activities of the Steuben chapter of AWA.

In addition we had another guest speaker, Steve Leonard, who provided an update of SCOPE’s GOTV (Get out the Vote) initiative. Scope is proceeding with a strong statewide effort to increase voter turnout to hopefully avoid the continued persecution of normally law abiding gun owners in New York State.

For those who enjoy going to the Chemung County Fair, this year August 4 through August 8, be sure to visit the Chemung County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs at the Log Cabin where I’ll be manning the tables for the Federation and providing a large SCOPE presence. We’ll have information on what the Federation does within the county as well as informational materials for SCOPE and our GOTV efforts. Like last year we’ll have display maps of where various Federation members and projects are located, and the interactive map for you to indicate where you’ve seen various wildlife, such as Otters and Coyotes and Bears, oh my. Expect the exciting scavenger hunts for the young ones, who always enjoy searching the displays. And we’ll have various raffles available.

Be sure to plan on attending our next meeting of the Chemung County SCOPE chapter August 26, 2026 at 6:30pm, at Pine City Sportsmen’s Club 187 Mountain View Dr, Pine City, NY. While we are still working on getting guest speakers for that meeting, we plan to be informative and interactive. And we will take to heart the suggestions on limiting meeting length. We want to be informative without being boring.

One more thing. SCOPE holds their annual banquet in September of each year, and has numerous raffles and auctions to raise needed funds. Each year they request donations from chapters and local resources of items, events, offerings to put in for these auctions. We will be collecting any donations we can at our August 26 meeting to take to the banquet for fund raising. Anything you can think would be a donation item we can supply from our Chemung chapter would be greatly appreciated. Hope to see you in August.

Be sure to set your calendar to attend our next Chemung County chapter meeting at Pine City Sportsmen’s Club on Wednesday June 24, 2026 at 6:30pm. Address is 187 Mountain View Dr., Pine City. Our guest speakers are Armed Women of America representatives Bobbie Jo Burdick and Rebecca Allen. See, print, and post the attached flyer as possible. All are welcome.

Attached also find our flyer for our Gun raffle, featuring a Henry Golden Boy Rifle. This raffle will enable us to obtain funds needed for support of our chapter, 2A efforts, education and outreach, and support of local youth shooting teams. Tickets will be available to pickup so you can assist in obtaining donations, and for purchase from local Scope members. I’ll have them available at the gun club meetings I attend, as well as any events where I’ll have a presence.

Besides the Chemung chapter meetings we hold, I also attend the Steuben County Chapter meetings when I can. Extremely enlightening, and not very far away from our Chemung County base. Those are held the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 7pm of each month at the Bath rod and gun club, 7771 Telegraph Rd, Bath, NY. Actually just outside of Savona. I encourage those who can attend occasionally to do so, they are extremely informative. I also like to attend the Schuyler County Chapter meetings, usually held 4 times a year. Those are at the Moose lodge at 6pm of specified months, check the Scope website (www.scopeny2a.org) for which months. Normal meetings are held the 1st Thursday of the specified months, the next meetings this year are June 4 and October 1. Address is 2096 Co Rd 14, Montour Falls. Extremely close to our county residents. Schuyler’s monthly updates on the website are especially informative.

We are working on obtaining speakers for our August meeting, more details to follow. Until then, hope to see you June 24.

I've had a few people ask me if our June 24, 2026 Chemung County Scope meeting is for women only. The answer is a resounding NO!!! Everyone is welcome. We want the men that show up to bring thier significant others with them, and the ladies that come to do the same. Everyone is always welcome at all our Chemung County Scope meetings, as everyone is welcome to beome a member of SCOPE.
