We have four new short courses available, beginning in August. Here's the scoop:
“Animal Tracking—Clear Print Identification”
Have you ever wondered if the animal eating your tomatoes was an opossum, a fox, or a squirrel? Well in this Animal Tracking workshop you will learn to identify critters by the footprints they leave on the earth.

“Gifts of the Earth—Shelter, Water, Fire”
This workshop will teach participants how to identify, find, make, and/or use the items that nature provides for the three basic needs for human survival—shelter, water, and fire. Workshop will include demonstration of fire by both flint & steel, and a primitive bowdrill; hands-on construction of a primitive shelter; and a discussion of safe sources of drinking water.

“Wilderness Survival Skills: Plants”
Learn ancient living skills using nothing but plants for shelter, fire, cordage, utensils and more. Activities will include shelter-building and making twine from plants, and a demonstration of fire-starting with a primitive bowdrill as well as flint & steel! Respect for all plant life is stressed.

This workshop will prepare participants for most emergencies encountered in any outdoor activity--hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, snow-shoeing, skiing, rafting, or driving in a car. The program is designed specifically for families with youngsters, or for those with limited experience in the outdoors.
