From a Dream to a Full-Ride Scholarship: Candice's Success Story

At Success Prep Education Center, we believe that every student has the potential to achieve extraordinary things with the right guidance, determination, and support.

Since 2015, we have helped students pursue their academic goals, earn scholarships, and gain admission to some of the nation's most respected colleges and universities. Today, we are proud to introduce one of our outstanding scholarship recipients for the Class of 2026 — Candice.

Candice's journey began when her family relocated from Hawaii to New York City. Like many parents, her mother had one important question:

"Can my daughter earn admission to a great university with scholarship support?"

Together, we developed a personalized roadmap that combined SAT preparation, college admissions planning, extracurricular development, and scholarship strategies.

From the very beginning, Candice demonstrated remarkable dedication.

Not only did she maintain an outstanding GPA near 99%, but she also actively pursued her passion for visual arts. A graduate of the prestigious Mark Twain Gifted & Talented Program, she later attended the renowned Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she continued to develop her artistic talents.

As an aspiring Visual Arts major, Candice built an impressive portfolio of digital artwork, showcasing her creativity, passion, and commitment to her craft.

While balancing a demanding academic schedule, she also worked tirelessly to improve her SAT score.

When Candice first joined Success Prep, her Digital SAT score was just above 1100. Through months of focused preparation, perseverance, and guidance from our instructors, she raised her score by more than 230 points, ultimately achieving a score of 1330.

But great college admissions results require more than strong grades and test scores.

During her senior year, Candice participated in Success Prep's College Admissions Coaching Program, where she learned how to strategically select universities, build a compelling student profile, craft meaningful personal essays, secure recommendation letters, and apply for scholarships and financial aid opportunities.

Together, we carefully developed a balanced college list consisting of reach, match, and safety schools.

The results were extraordinary.

Candice earned admission offers from nine universities, including:

In total, she received nearly $69,000 in scholarships and grants per year.

Combined with federal student aid, Candice's out-of-pocket college cost was reduced to virtually nothing — making her Fordham education possible through what is effectively a full-ride scholarship package.

Candice's story is a reminder that success doesn't happen overnight.

Regents Eliminated! What Does Your Child Need to Prepare For?

New York State is making one of the biggest changes to its education system in decades. The New York State Board of Regents has approved a plan to phase out Regents exams as a graduation requirement and replace them with multiple pathways that allow students to demonstrate their learning through projects, portfolios, career-focused experiences, and other assessments.

Beginning with students entering 9th grade in the 2027-2028 school year, passing Regents exams will no longer be required to earn a New York State diploma. Current students will continue under existing graduation requirements during the transition period.

Why Is This Happening?

The state believes graduation requirements should reflect a broader range of student skills and achievements rather than relying primarily on standardized exams. The new system aims to provide students with multiple ways to demonstrate college, career, and civic readiness.

What Should Parents Know?

While Regents exams may no longer be required for graduation, the academic skills taught in Regents courses remain essential.
Subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies form the foundation for success on the SAT, AP exams, college entrance assessments, and college-level coursework. Colleges will continue to expect students to demonstrate strong academic preparation regardless of graduation requirements.

We are happy to announce our new 16-week State Test program!🎉🎉🎉🎉

Preparing for state exams requires consistency, practice, and a strong understanding of core concepts. Our State Test Prep Program is designed to provide students with structured, focused preparation over a 16-week period, helping them build confidence and readiness for test day.

Program Schedule

The program runs from January 10, 2026, to April 25, 2026, giving students ample time to review material, strengthen skills, and practice test-taking strategies.

Classes will be held on:

Saturdays or Sundays
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This weekend schedule allows students to prepare effectively without interfering with their regular school hours.

Program Structure

Over the course of 16 weeks, students will:

Review key state test concepts

Practice exam-style questions

Strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Develop effective test-taking strategies

The program is paced to support steady progress while reinforcing important material throughout the testing season.
