We did it!!!! Go Grays Harbor!! You filled our tansy dumpster (about 2 weeks ago, sorry for the late post). LeMay reported that the weight was over 5 tons! That’s more than 10,000 lbs of tansy. GREAT JOB GRAYS HARBOR 👏🏼
That also means we met our goal of surpassing last year’s weight and will be doing the ‘2 hours of free w**d control’ drawing at the end of September.
The dumpster has been emptied and will be on site though September and the 3 winners of the drawing can schedule with us in Spring of 2027.

We’ve been seeing this noxious w**d more frequently in neighboring counties. Keep your eyes peeled for knapw**ds in Grays Harbor and report any sitings to us!

We’re sending second notification letters! If you haven’t addressed the tansy on your property since our first notification, you’ll be getting another one..

In the meantime we’ve been collecting bags of it ourselves - big 55 gallon contractor bags- and adding it to the tansy dumpster here on the fairground. Grays Harbor Noxious W**ds has contributed 79 bags so far!

And, given the unexpected rain in our forecast for tomorrow, we are looking for more public locations to pull from. Let us know where to go!

Don’t forget to bring your BAGGED tansy to the fairgrounds for disposal and enter into our drawing to win 2 free hours of w**d control work next Spring.

Finished the tansy on the east side of Foster road before the w**d board meeting today! Working hard on contributing to our dumpster to ensure we break last year’s record! We need your contributions to make this happen, we want to see the drawing come to fruition!

It’s tansy time!!! Everyone’s favorite time to hear from us 😅 It’s unfortunate when we have to reach out to people to remind them but we are a regulatory agency and this work benefits the whole county.
We sent out over 100 early season reminders back in April and 46 First Notice letters yesterday.

We also filled the back of the pickup with tansy ragwort found in the ROW on Foster road, we will also be addressing keys rd and North River rd as we can.

Additionally we will be sending out notification post cards to for those in tansy infested areas or for those who have just a little on their property.

Overall we are seeing less this year than last. Let’s work together and keep that progress going!

Don’t forget about our free tansy dumpster! 1 contractor bag full of tansy is enough to enter you into our drawing! Three Grays Harbor winners will be selected at the end of summer to receive 2 free hours of w**d control work by GHNWCB!

This week we are out retreating our known Phragmites sites within the harbor. We’re receiving help from WSDA & WDFW to treat the Ocean Shores Airport, Green Gables, North Bay, and Bowerman Airport sites via airboat. So far we’re seeing great results from last year’s treatments!

We are going after Egeria densa in the Chehalis river, improving habitat for salmon and building on the efforts made by our upstream partners! Receiving this grant is a big achievement for GHNWCB and we’re proud to carry this torch ❤️
