What a fun opportunity to see St. Mary’s Visitation from above! A huge thank you to the Elm Grove Fire Department for the ride — and the incredible view of our beautiful campus. ❤️

May the angels lead you into paradise 🖤

Today is the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels. During the Offertory chant at a Catholic Funeral Mass, those in prayer for the soul of the deceased, call upon St. Michael, the standard-bearer, to lead their loved one into heaven. It is fitting that today we post about the updates to St. Mary Visitation’s cemetery.

You’ll notice many updates over on the cemetery grounds. Benches have been added in front of the columbarium. There are a few signs with QR codes linking visitors up with Cemify, so they can easily find their loved one. All of SMV’s burial records have now been digitized into the mapping software. Our pre-born memorial stone has been moved from the parish grounds to the pre-born block, a bench was added, and beautiful flowers were planted. The pre-born block now has been row mapped and row markers have been installed.

Our cemetery has been a part of our parish since 1870. We have a long history of maintaining this land, which shelters our dearly departed parishioners. May choirs of angels receive them and may they have eternal rest.

Truth. Beauty. Goodness. 💟

Fr. Philip wraps up his series on Raphael’s frescos in the Stanza della Segnatura, found in the Vatican Museums. He discusses how all the walls relate to one another in this final video on the topic.

O God, who consecrated the bond of Marriage
by so great a mystery
that in the wedding covenant you foreshadow
the Sacrament of Christ and his Church,
grant, we pray, to these your servants,
that what they receive in faith
they may live out in deeds.

💙

We are in the midst of a busy wedding season at SMV! May God bless all of the couples celebrating this Sacrament at our parish and choosing to begin their married lives witnessed by the Church.

At the cross, her station keeping…

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. The Stabat Mater is the Sequence for this day, the hymn portrays our Blessed Mother’s suffering during the crucifixion of her son Jesus Christ.

The audio is a clip of a haunting arrangement of the chant sung by an SMV cantor Schola on Good Friday by Belgian composer, Gustaaf Nees.
