We are home! What a week for our SkillsUSA National Competitors! We couldn’t be more proud of our students for competing this year. It’s a long week that is both exciting and stressful. A week stay in downtown Atlanta brings its own challenges but each student navigated them well and then put their best foot forward in their competitions.

While we didn’t earn any National Medals, our students placed high and represented themselves, their families, their community and HCTC amazingly well. They grew their skills and pushed beyond their comfort zone to grow as people. Their future is bright!

A special word of thanks to our Advisors who are teachers (a week away during school is no easy process) and supported each student in their respective competitions. Their guidance, patience, and leadership make this event possible! Thanks to Mrs. Mason & Mr. Smith for planning, navigating and chaperoning this year’s event!

Today (Thursday) the competitions wrapped up and what a busy day it was. Will Dow (First Aid/CPR and Bryleigh Gatcomb (Health Occupations Professional Portfolio) competed while Abby Billings and Annabri Ransom had backstage dress rehearsal for Models of Excellence closing ceremony recognition on Friday. Lots of fun was had visiting the Techspo floor engaging with industry partners. The fun continued at the Champions Festival, full of food, music and games for students to enjoy. Ryan Gross (Criminal Justice) had to leave us early for his graduation on Friday night at Ellsworth High School. We want to wish him the best and CONGRATULATIONS from us all here in Atlanta on your high school success. Closing ceremony will be live streamed on Friday evening starting at 4:00pm. We will share the link on HC TC's page once it is available.

HCTC Students Shine In Atlanta SkillsUSA Competition Events

Day #2 of NLSC 2026 (Tuesday)

Today was full of contest orientations, contest specific testing, and experiencing the Techspo floor, and don't forget the pin trading! Our HCTC students are searching to collect all the state pins and are off to a good start! HCTC is proud to represent Maine in the Model of Excellence (MOE) program. We are one of 24 schools across the nation that will complete tomorrow for the title of top three. They were recognized this afternoon with an awards ceremony, and a meet and greet with Josef Newgarden (Snap On No. 2 Indy car driver). We ended the evening with Opening Ceremony full of energy and excitement. Tomorrow it is competition time!!
