Deputy Secretary of Facility Management Joel B. Hrabe is pleased to announce that Ellsworth Correctional Facility (ECF) Clinical Chaplain Dale L. Bailey has been selected to provide oversight of religious programs for the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). He will oversee the resolution of religious grievances and complaints and monitor compliance for all religious activities for KDOC. His new responsibilities became effective on Sunday, April 5, 2020, and are in addition to those he will continue to fulfill in his Clinical Chaplain role.

Chaplain Bailey began employment with KDOC at ECF on August 17, 2003, in his current position of Clinical Chaplain. During his career, Chaplain Bailey was recognized for his outstanding attendance record. He was also honored as ECF’s Non-Uniformed Employee of the Second Quarter for Fiscal Years 2007 and 2011, and Third Quarter for Fiscal Year 2015. Furthermore, Chaplain Bailey was selected as ECF’s Outstanding Non-Uniformed Employee of the Year at the Department-level for Fiscal Year 2015.

Chaplain Bailey currently serves ECF as a Staff Development Faculty Member, co-chairs ECF’s Emergency Staff Services, and manages the Right Track Foundation of Kansas. He has been an integral part of ECF’s Spiritual Life Center (SLC) for the past nearly 17 years. Chaplain Bailey remains dedicated to the success of the SLC and Chaplaincy Programs. He was instrumental in establishing the Right Track Foundation of Kansas, with a mission of making the communities in which we live safer for our families and neighbors by reducing recidivism and victimization. This foundation assists those who are reentering society from prison by providing them with the skills, education, faith, confidence, and self-worth to help them get on the right track for a better, more productive life. Chaplain Bailey is known for serving as a positive role model and leader for the offenders as well as for his coworkers.

Chaplain Bailey graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, in 1997, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Theology. He founded and pastored Smoky Hill Baptist Church in Ellsworth, from 1997 to 2003. Furthermore, he has served on the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department as a Chaplain and Firefighter since 2008.

Lamar’s mother was a seamstress, but he had never sewn prior to arriving at Ellsworth Correctional Facility. Now he makes quilts from mostly donated materials that are sold at Spiritual Life Center events to benefit the Right Track Foundation, which provides faith-based programming, events, and benefits for offenders. He enjoys knowing that his hard work is going to benefit others.

IT'S SHOWTIME FOR NATIONAL TV SPECIAL

BDS Productions of Chapman and Branson Grand Country Music Hall are releasing a one-hour national TV special broadcast featuring top performers in Branson performing at the Grand Country Music Hall on the strip in Branson. The national TV Special entitled "We Are Branson - USA - We Are Country and Proud of It" will feature performances by The Petersens from the IMAX Little Opry Theatre, Doo W*p and The Drifters, Blues Brothers from Legends, The Blackwoods from Branson Famous Theatre, Doug Gabriel of Pierce Arrow, Billy Yates, Elvis of Legends, Jackie Brown and David Ragan of Branson Country - USA, Clay Cooper of Clay Cooper Theatre, Six from the Hughes Theatre, Mary Fay Jackson, Mike Patrick and New South, Jamie Haage of Branson Country - USA as well as the award winning Grand Band of Grand Country Music Hall.

The one-hour special will be broadcast on the Family Friendly Entertainment Network on January 25, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. (CST). The special will also air on the following channels/networks: Family Friendly Entertainment Network, The Vacation Channel, PCEN West Plains, Missouri, KAOB TV of Vidor, Texas, KJNP North Pole, Alaska, Eagle Communications Systems of Abilene/Hays, Kansas.

The show will also be available through Roku or on-line devices at FamilyFriendlyE.com or Family Friendly Entertainment Network's page.

A post-secondary education is often a key component to meaningful employment. We want to thank our partners Washburn Tech, Barton Community College, Butler Community College, Cowley College, Colby Community College and Hutchinson Community College for their dedication to assisting our inmates with gaining the skills they need to successfully find employment upon reentry. Over the past month we have had multiple graduation ceremonies, celebrating with inmates and their families. Congratulations to these many graduates. We hope that these new skills learned will create opportunities for each graduate, reducing the chances they will return to one of our facilities.
