It is the time of year for Take n Bake to return!

We are starting the year out a little differently by offering it as a meal plan. If you do not want the whole meal, you can opt to order the pork by the pound or sides by 20oz containers.

Orders must be in By Sunday Sept. 30th at noon.

Then pick up days will be the following week: September 2nd, 3rd, or 4th by 4:30 PM.

FCCLA has hit the ground running! We already had the opportunity to cater our first event, the Farm Bureau Annual Meeting. Our students prepared and served a taco bar complete with all the fixings.
Farm Bureau had a surprise for me as well. They presented me with a wonderful gift and shared that they had nominated me for their Friend of Ag Award, along with some incredibly kind words about the work my FCCLA students and I do in our school and community.
While I am truly honored by the recognition, I also know that we wouldn’t be able to do many of the amazing things we do without Farm Bureau’s continued support. They have supported our students, believed in their ideas, partnered with us on projects, and helped us turn those ideas into opportunities that make a real difference.
Thank you, Farm Bureau, for believing in our students and our FCCLA program. We are so fortunate to have community partners who don’t just cheer our students on, they step up and help them succeed. ❤️

FCCLA ended the week by celebrating the teachers and providing them a breakfast in a box to celebrate the end of the first full week of school!

Also this is your friendly reminder to let your students know the first FCCLA meeting will be this coming Tuesday at 7:30 A.M. in Mrs Burger's room and we will have breakfast!

I want to start off though by saying thank you to those who donated fabric. My apparel students are starting off the year learning about cuts, measurements and basic straight stitch, with those lessons, they’ll be constructing Quilts of Valor for us to donate to the American Legion and the VFW. I am beyond excited for this project as my father was a veteran.

My culinary one students are starting off the year learning their knife cuts, and today they made apple swans.

I have a couple other classes processing squash, thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Bathchman. With their squash, they’ll be making cinnamon chocolate squash bread.

This school year Facebook posts will look a little different. With the new laws in place, we can no longer allow comments or respond to messages on Facebook. So please if you have any questions you can email me at my school email or call the school and I’ll be happy to try and answer those for you. My email is [email protected]

This will be the last post that you are able to comment on as we transition over to the new system of posting. That being said just realize I won’t be able to respond to any of them comment or message.

Lastly, I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has always left such positive and encouraging comments on our posts. The students and I truly enjoyed reading them. There’s nothing better than seeing a student’s face light up when they realize that what they’re doing is appreciated, supported, and loved by so many people.

My sewing classes will be working on two group projects this year throughout first semester. I can’t disclose what they are yet cause I’m working at the details. However, I am in search of anyone who has any red blue or white fabric that they would like to donate even if it’s scraps. It could be solids in those three colors or they could be those three colors with some sort of printed design on them. For example, a blue floral would work. If you have any that you would like to donate please contact me and I am more than happy to come get them from you. Thank you for all your help.

I don’t know how but first time ever I took no pictures of the students cooking or any pictures of the finished products which makes me really sad. Just need to give a huge thank you to those that helped me prep and cook all the sides for the back to staff luncheon. Huge thanks to Sabrina Bourbon, Mallory, Justine, Kinly, Bryson, Makinley and of course Stella.

We made cowboy beans
Mexican street corn pasta salad
Cucumber, onion, tomato, feta salad
Watermelon and peach salad with a honey lime vinaigrette with fresh mint
Veggie trays
And our famous chocolate chip cookies.

Guess what FCCLA is doing today! It’s hard to belive but we are getting all of our groceries for the staff back to school luncheon on Tuesday. All except the hamburgers and hotdogs which are grilled by our amazing school board members! We have some new dishes planned and I can’t wait for the staff to try them. ❤️

Today I received an email from National FCCLA stating that there was a scoring issue at Nationals with Mallory’s Event. In this email not only was I notified that Mallory placed in the top 10 and should have been up on the national stage but that she placed 5th Nationally with her project the Lincoln County Christmas Closet.

Although we were totally bummed she didn’t get to be on stage we were both beyond excited to hear she placed 5th Nationally which is an amazing end to her high school career ❤️

Day 5 the final day of Kids Cooking Camp

Was the week perfect no but I do feel like each day we got a little better with how we operated. Plus I now know what to do next year to make it even better!

I will tell you after 5 days I’m exhausted but it is a good exhausted. I love seeing kids excited about working in the kitchen and as a team. We couldn’t have done everything we did this week without the help of one another.

Today your campers are coming home with their cookies, their cookbook, a dough scrapper which is my favorite tool, a FCCLA pin and their apron, and hopefully they have enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed them!

Not many pictures today as I got busy and forgot which is totally not like me 😂

Day 4 Kids Cooking Camp Recap.

Parents of Campers a lot of campers had questions about tomorrow our community service day. Each camper will be making a 9x13 pasta bake and a loaf of French bread to give away to a family of their choosing. I do not need to know why they picked them and I do not need to know who they are unless you need me to deliver the meal for you. They will make cards during camp tomorrow to go with their meals.

Several campers have asked me why we’re giving away a meal.

First, FCCLA is about so much more than cooking. At its heart, it’s about serving others, giving back to our communities, and making a positive difference in someone’s life.

Second, I know from personal experience that even the smallest act of kindness can completely brighten someone’s day. A homemade meal may seem simple, but to the person receiving it, it can mean so much more.

My hope is that when your camper delivers their meal and sees the smile it brings to someone’s face, they will experience the joy of helping others. That feeling of pride, compassion, and knowing you made a difference is something that can’t be taught in a classroom, it has to be experienced. I truly believe it’s one of the greatest gifts we can give our students.

Now for today the campers prepped the famous FACS cookies they will get to bring home tomorrow. They also got to listen to me talk about how beef goes from the farm to our plate. Then they seasoned up and made patties for BBQ hamburgers. Lastly we played what’s that smell one of my favorite food games!

Don’t worry we cleaned and sanitized a lot after handling the raw hamburger!
