Staying Fit While Traveling!
Look…
We are in the holiday season. Which means that there might be a lot of travel back and forth between relative’s houses, spouses family, or even friend’s house for Thanksgiving or Holiday get togethers.
And while some visits may be short…
Some visits could be a lot longer—like a week or more.
So, how do you maintain your fitness and health while traveling, stuck with layovers at the airport (well wishes if you’re using air to travel this year), or long hours in the car?
It’s easier than you think!
Here are some tips for maintaining your fitness and nutrition while traveling:
Plan Ahead for Fitness—chances are, you’ve been to your destination before. So, you might know a little bit about the surrounding area. If you do, plan your fitness around the area you’re traveling to. Map out a run location. Plan your Wellbeats workouts for the week. Find a local gym and see how much a day pass or week pass would be. The more you plan, the more prepared you will be to workout while traveling.
Pack Workout Equipment For Traveling—there’s a good chance you can do most workouts with your own bodyweight (check out the bodyweight workouts on Wellbeats). But there might be a chance you need to pack some workout clothes, shoes, or some external equipment if you’re stuck in a place where there isn’t a gym. This one goes right along with the next one.
Get To Know Your Own Bodyweight—you don’t need fancy weights or squat racks to get in a good workout. You can use your own body for resistance and give yourself a killer workout. An easy routine can consist of squats, pushups, renegade rows, crunches, and lunges. Play with the intensity by changing rep ranges, use reps or time, and cut down on your rest time. Trust me, a bodyweight workout can be just as effective as a longer session at the gym.
Do Stretching Or Yoga Workouts—after traveling for a long period of time, you might find yourself tight and certain areas of your body needing a good stretch. Incorporate more stretching, yoga, or Pilates classes to not only get a good workout in but also improve your flexibility at the same time.
Mix Up Your Workout—you don’t need to go for a long run or hit the hotel gym or a fitness center. Mix up your workouts by going for a walk, taking a hike, going for a swim, or riding a bike. Don’t get stuck doing your normal routine. Now is the perfect time to mix things up and get a different workout in.
Traveling doesn’t mean your fitness needs to take a backseat.
If you plan ahead and make your fitness a priority, you can still enjoy your time while keeping all your fitness goals in mind.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭
Look, if you think that exercise is enough to change your health, you’re incorrect.
You need both diet AND exercise in order to be successful.
So, even if you exercise, but you’re not seeing the results you want, then it’s time to take a closer look at your diet and see what can be changed.
Here are some tips for changing your diet to get better results:
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲–The worst thing you can do is try to make diet changes all at once. This often leads to noncompliance with your program, which prevents you from moving forward. But, if you start making changes slowly, then you may get better results. Start by eliminating one bad food item and substitute one good food item at a time. Give yourself a week or two to adjust to the changes before making another change.
𝐀𝐝𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬–If you want to make the changes last, you need to eliminate unhealthy foods and add in healthy foods. This simple switch can reduce calories, unhealthy fats, and sugar from your diet. It can also add nutrients your body needs (like fiber, vitamins, and minerals) that you might be deficient in.
𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞–Snacking when you get home from work or late at night can be a downfall for most people. But, if you keep healthy foods on hand (like fruits and vegetables), you can have lower-calorie options when you’re looking to satisfy your snacking needs.
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐄𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠–Being aware of your body and what it needs is important to overall health. Eating slowly, by focusing on every bite and chewing slowly, means you’re putting more effort into eating and allowing your body to catch up to the food in your stomach.
𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧–following a well-designed eating plan is key to overall success This doesn’t mean a fad diet or something your friend does. Following an eating plan that is designed for YOUR needs will help you get closer to your overall needs.
These are just some simple tips to follow if you’re looking to change your diet to improve your health.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦
I am going to share a little secret with you:
Exercise isn’t always fun. There I said it.
Sometimes it’s hard to drag myself out of bed in the morning to do my run…
Or to get in a good lift when I have the time.
Because there is ALWAYS something else I can be doing. Like cleaning the house…
Or giving the kids a bath…
Or making dinner…
Or just making sure I am having quality time with my family and wife.
Oh…also that WORK thing seems to interfere a lot as well.
So, sometimes getting in a good workout can be challenging–and something that you often DREAD doing.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Look…
We all know that we need to move more throughout the day. We have got to stop sitting as much as we do…
Stop indulging in higher calorie and higher portion foods…
And stop making excuses why we can’t exercise.
Because there will always be excuses (see the list from above).
Here’s the caveat to all this:
You need to find the RIGHT program and the RIGHT exercises that will not only make exercising fun and exciting…
It will help you stay active, which can hold a lot of awesome health benefits.
So…
If you like to dance…try on a Zumba class or a dance cardio workout.
If you like to hike–find the highest peaks you can and hike them a couple times a week.
If you like to swim…hit the pool and swim a few laps.
And if you like to lift heavy things and put them down…then get a solid workout plan that includes strength training.
Because the more you like the exercises you’re doing…the more likely it will be that you stick with the program.
Exercise doesn’t have to be the same thing each day…it can vary depending on what you needs are, what you like, and what your goals are.
To finish this up…
If you are stuck trying to figure out the right exercises, plan to follow–one that you can stick to–reach out and see what I can offer you.
My 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 (monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually) might be the right option for you.
Not only do we really dig into your goals and find the right path to help you achieve those goals…
We also pick exercises that interest you–so you can get stronger, fitter, and healthier.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫?
I have had a few people ask:
What type of services do you offer? Great question!
Well, here is a short list of what I can do for YOU moving forward (along with cost):

“𝐈 𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲. 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐝𝐨?”
This is something that I hear a lot. People are often too sedentary throughout the day, due to their jobs, that it really impacts their health.
For some, this inactivity can lead to weight gain…
Which can lead to blood pressure issues…
And this ultimately could lead to heart issues.
It could also lead to joint pain…
Muscle imbalances…
Lower back pain…
The list goes on and on.
But:
There are some things you can do to stop this.
For example, instead of sending that email, walk the message to the employee you’re communicating with.
Set a reminder each hour that you need to get up and move.
Do jumping jacks or squats at your desk.
No one is saying that you need to do a complete workout…you just need to get a little bit of movement into your day.
And if you want a workout…or a nutrition plan to get you started…
I have the best solution:
We have a 𝟏𝟒-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 that will give you a little taste of what I can do for you.
It’s individualized to your needs and goals and can be the jumpstart that you need to start your fitness and wellness journey.
If you’re interested in learning more about the 𝟏𝟒-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, comment “interested” below, or send me a private message!

So, let’s talk about eating healthy.
I’m a big fan of eating healthy, but even sometimes I slip up too.
Why? Because staying on a diet isn’t realistic. You need those days where you eat whatever you want.
It won’t ruin your diet at all. In fact, its actually important to have those so called “cheat days.”
Why? Because there’s a really good chance you body needs the things you’re missing. It could need those carbs…
Or that slice of cake or pie…
Or even that drink.
These foods might provide a great deals of nutrients your body needs that you might. It be getting during the week.
Here’s If there are 3 things you should remember of eating right it’s this:
Always follow the 80/20 rule.
Load up your plates with fruits and veggies and a small amount of complex canes.
Always include a protein with each meal.
Although it’s not easy, following these three tips could help you control your calories and stick to a much more realistic eating plan.
If you need help, I’m available.
Tell me what are your biggest questions when it comes to changing your diet.

So, you went to the doctor and you didn’t like what he/she had to say.
Mostly when it involves your weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, mental health, etc.
It could be any one of these, it could be all of these…
Or it could be something different!
But, the point was made clear: You need to make a change, and make it NOW.
The only problem is:
Where do you get started?
Your doctor only has a limited amount of time to spend with you, so getting all your questions answered can be tough.
So, you’re left trying to figure things out on your own.
And that can be really tough, since there is so much miscommunication on the internet, with friends, or even from the “experts.”
So, where do you turn?
Don’t worry…I will make a pitch later. But for now, I want to give you a little FREEBIE.
I am going to share the 5 commandments you need to remember when you’re about to make a change–big or small.
Those commandments are:
Be Aware Of The Things That Need To Change–you have been told what you need to change, so it’s time to think about those changes. At the very least, you need to understand you DO need to change something (even if it’s not right now).
Consider the Impact of Change–Now that you know something needs to change, it’s time to really think about how that change will impact your health. Will you lose weight? Will your blood pressure drop? Will you be happier or healthier? If you can’t find a positive that will happen from changing, then it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
Preparation–you have your goals, now it’s time to make a plan to put those changes into practice. Set specific goals and make a plan that will help you reach those goals.
Take Action–you can plan and prepare, but unless you take action, nothing will happen. Once you have your plan in place, however, it’s much easier to take the small steps to making the change happen. But you need to get off the couch and take action–that’s the most important thing.
Maintain–after you have met your goals, it’s time to maintain where you have gotten to. No need to slip back into old habits that will lead to unhealthy changes…have a plan set in place at the end to keep you where your new body is.
Yes, it may seem like a lot of work to do all this…
And you still may not know where to start. But working with a health coach (and a personal trainer) should be your first step.
Together, we can flesh out your goals and create a plan to accomplish those goals. And, once you have met your goals, we can make a new plan (for a new goal) or make a new plan to help you maintain the great work you just accomplished.
But:
The first step is taking action! If you want more information on Health Coaching or Personal Training, comment “info” below and I will send you a message!
