We would like to congratulate 5 outstanding students from Laurel High School who took advantage of their intersession break to invest in their future through Jones Workforce College!

Students included: Charles Dunkentell, Angel Hatten, Lashun Stevens, D'Erriyon Drummond, and Hayden Ducksworth

During the week, these students successfully completed an 8-hour Forklift Training course and earned their OSHA 10 General Industry certification. By gaining these industry-recognized credentials while still in high school, they are building valuable skills, enhancing their employability, and preparing for future career opportunities.

We are proud of their dedication and commitment to learning and look forward to seeing the impact they make in the workforce and beyond. Congratulations on this achievement!

Today, we enjoyed hosting students from Northeast Jones High School at the Jones College Advanced Technology Center!

Thanks to Career Coach Iris Andrews for coordinating the visit and providing students with an opportunity to explore our Workforce Welding Program. During the tour, students met with Welding Instructor Tracy Warden and Business Development Manager Becky Collins to learn about training opportunities, industry certifications, and career pathways available through Jones College.

We appreciate the students taking time to visit and look forward to helping them build the skills needed for future success in the workforce!

Great job, Calup Williams!

Meet Calup Williams, one of our Electrical Technology graduates from the Jones College Greene County Center!
At 21 years old, he has already discovered the value of pursuing a skilled trade and building a career with purpose. After beginning college on a fishing scholarship at Blue Mountain Christian University, Calup realized the medical field wasn't the path he wanted to pursue. Remembering his parents' advice to always have a trade to fall back on, he enrolled in the CTE Electrical Technology program and non-credit, workforce CAD program at the Jones College Greene County Center.
Having previously taken classes through Jones College while in high school, Calup knew the quality of education and hands-on training the program offered. He was especially interested in learning how to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings while developing skills in Electrical Technology and CAD.
Throughout the program, he gained valuable experience in troubleshooting, residential wiring, smart home technology, PLCs, motor wiring, workplace safety, and more. Some of his favorite memories came from community projects, including installing lighting at local little league baseball fields and softball facilities, helping improve spaces used by young athletes and their families.
Today, he is working in the electrical field and applying the skills he learned every day.
Calup’s advice for future students: "Set a goal going into the program and push yourself to achieve it. Show up on time, apply yourself every day, and make the most of every opportunity."
We're proud to celebrate his success and the impact our Greene County Center continues to make by preparing students for rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

We're having a great week with Laurel High School students during their intersession school break! Through Jones Workforce College, students are participating in short-term certification programs that help them earn industry-recognized credentials and gain hands-on experience before graduating high school.

Today's training took place on the forklift driving course, where students are building valuable skills that can help prepare them for future careers and workforce opportunities.

Thank you to Northeast Jones High School for inviting Jones College to speak with your Career Endorsement Students. Our instructors from CTE and Workforce programs had the opportunity to speak with 10th through 12th grade students about career opportunities in various fields.

The program was coordinated by NEJ Career Coach Ms. Iris Andrews. Students included those CTE Endorsement students in Ms. Lisa Bolivar's Exploring Careers classes and those seniors who are interested in career-technical fields.

Speaking to students were Mrs. Becky Collins - Workforce Business Development Manager, Mrs. Shai Harper - Jones Recruiter, Mr. Randy Beets - CDL instructor, Mr. Seth Pierce - Electrical/Fiber Optics Instructor, Mr. Ethan Wimberly - Welding Instructor, and Ms. Chantra Parker - HCA/Phlebotomy Instructor.

Students were also able to see one of the 18-wheelers used in the Jones CDL program.

💻⚙️ From the Classroom to the Real World!

Northeast Jones Computer Science students recently had the opportunity to see firsthand how technology and technical skills come together in today’s workforce.

The students first toured PG Technologies, where they got a look at how these skills are applied in a real-world work environment. From there, they visited the Jones College Advanced Technology Center to learn more about our Electromechanical Technology program with program instructor, Cody Robertson, and the hands-on training students receive.

Experiences like these help students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real career opportunities—and see how their skills can be put to work in the local job market. 👏

We’re proud to partner with area schools and industry to help students explore careers, gain awareness and prepare for their future!
