Why Not Architect Your Own Life? 04/22/2016

You can do that!

Why Not Architect Your Own Life? Design the Life You Want by Aligning Your Vision, Priorities, and Actions We usually take our workplaces for granted, don’t we? But skyscrapers are colossal achievements. Architects must design them with variables like winds, earthquakes, communication, traffic, and the surrounding environment in mi…

"Don’t Ignore Your Personal Life"

"Good" [people] put aside their own needs [agendas] for the good of the organization — but that doesn’t mean they completely sacrifice their personal lives. [People] who subjugate their need for exercise, sleep, and recreation eventually succumb to brownout: the graduated loss of energy, focus, and passion. Brownout is often imperceptible to outsiders, but it affects a significant percentage of the executive population. Today’s superstar leaders supplement their commitment to others with an equally important commitment to themselves. Whether it’s promising you’ll stick to your exercise routine, enjoy hobbies, eat dinner with your family, or reflect on what’s important to you, putting aside time for yourself makes you a better, more fully realized version of yourself. Start by making one small but meaningful promise to yourself — and keep it. If you’re successful, try another promise. It shouldn’t take long for the performance benefits to be obvious.

How to Deal with Frustrating People 12/10/2014

Today is Wednesday (aka hump day) December 10th, 2014. I hope you are running the race of life with patience. I hope that the attached link and its message helps you get over the hump. But I also want to give you a framework for taking control of your life. Imagine that life is like a television with a remote control. Who has the remote? Is it you or someone else? If the remote control of your life is not in your possession then other people can press your buttons. But if you are in possession of the remote, as stimuli (a signal) come into you-TV (your tele-vision), you can change the channel if need be or shut it off. Stop giving away your power to circumstances or to people. You've 'got the POWER!' Use it or lose it. It's your choice and it's your remote.
